    How low response?
I have to put the pedal all the way to the floor to stop, and even then it's a slow stop.
Will the rear shoe adjustment make that much of a difference?
For me, the pedal seems soft and not super firm.

Like to the point where it feels like I only have half my braking power, even with bigger Tundra brakes and wider tires. Yours may be something else if it's just dropping to the floor. Mine firms up the harder you push, but it takes a bit to get there, so I think I may have a bad brake booster as well.

Any ideas out there besides replace brake booster?
Been looking for OEM replacement that isn't so damn expensive.

Also, most of the boosters on ebay are listed as "excluding PreRunner". What is different about the booster?

I just bought a master cylinder bleed kit and a pneumatic bleeder to ensure I get all the air out of mine. Can report back within a week, most likely.

Look on RockAuto for more booster options.

I forgot to update this thread.
Picked up an OEM brake booster on eBay, but found that when I pulled my old booster that the new one was a bit smaller.
Installed the new one anyway and backed out the driveway, brakes worked perfectly.

Thanks again for all the help, fellas.

Any idea regarding the different size booster?
Will it affect braking power at all?

It will. They're both dual diaphragm but the larger one will generate more pressure vs the smaller unit.

The smaller unit look like it's from a T100 or 4R

Was sold as being pulled from a Tacoma.
The last one I got was from a 4Runner, bolt pattern didn't line up so I found this one.

I switched the 4R booster out after I was able to source the larger booster from a early tacoma with an 1" MC even tho the 4R had an 1 inch MC too.

When stopping, I can tell the larger tacoma booster stops better vs the 4R vs the factory single diaphragm 01-04 booster.

I do know that the larger booster is nolonger being made/reman and the smaller unit was use in its place. That's why I replaced my single with a 4R until I was able to sourced the larger booster a year later.

What you meant to say is, the MC from the pre-00 is 1" with 4 bolt mounting and is dual diaphragm. 01-04 are 15/16" with 2 bolt mounting MC and single diaphragm. That's the difference.

Would still work if you kept the MC from the 01-04 with the 01-04 booster.

Thanks for the clarification, was chasing this issue for a while.
Can I rebuild my old booster to use as a spare in case this one dies?
