Brake light coming on from parking brake

02 manual 4x4
My parking bake has recently started causing brake light to come on....as you are driving the parking brake lever wants to continually ease out about a 1/4 inch, causing light to come on...you push it in and light goes out but it eases back out a few minutes later...
Any experience with this?

 

Check your spring under your cab, might be worn out or the hardware housing it may be damaged. Try adjusting it as well, might help

 

+1 on adjusting the parking brake. Check your brake fluid reservoir also, it triggers the same light

 

When the spring at the intermediate lever gets dirty or dry it hangs up .

I give it some lube when checking the size of the holes in the frame

Most likely the cause if the cable pushes back out.

Not that it can`t be a frayed front cable where it attaches to the handle
