Brake lights not working

Alrighty, last update!!

I went through all that(including swapping sides for testing, but forgot to put that that had the same issues with that right tail light in my last post) and ended up putting my stocks back on.

Was sitting on my tailgate, drenched in sweat from the AZ heat, feeling defeated, wondering how much money I was going to have to spend to get lights I actually like again, when my lovely wife pulled into the driveway and began to "help" by playing with the wiring on the "broken" light.

Turns out, that single little red wire from my pic was a tiny bit more stretchy than plastic-covered wiring should feel. Knowing I was most likely going to toss these tail lights that I really like, I pinched the red insulation off to find the wire had split apart at some point(probably also from the AZ heat). I trimmed it a bit, spliced the ends back together, plugged it all back in for what seemed like the thousandth time today.

Lo and behold, they work again when braking! (you can almost tell in my pic where that break is in the red wire, right at that curvature)

So now I gotta hear from her that she figured it out lol


Good news in the end! Had I not just literally felt the length of the wiring between my fingers, and the tiny extra bit of elasticity where the wiring wasn't connected anymore, I would never have known the issue was simply a small disconnect. I'm super grateful it was a fixable problem considering how well-sealed these lights are all over because I'm sure if I actually got to the point of opening everything up, that light would have been unusable as soon as I pried it open.
