Brake lights not wotking

    2009 Tacoma DB Cab
    Hey everyone l'm new to this forum and need some help I have a 2009 Tacoma access cab it has the LED tail lights and my brake lights don't turn on including the third light I have checked the fuses under the dash and under the hood and they're good went to ask at a auto store and was told i had to buy the hole tail lights is that true or is there something im missing? Thanks in advance

    There's a switch that your brake pedal engages that send a signal to the brake lights to turn on when you stop. If the tail lights come on with your headlights, that might be the problem. I had the brake lights not work on an old Nissan Sentra that my wife use to have. That ended up being the problem. I don't think it was too expensive to fix.

    Check the brake switch on the pedal assembly. A good way to test the brake switch is to set the cruise control and then press the brake, if the cruise control kicks off the switch is working.

    Also check the fuses with a multimeter, they may appear good visually and still be defective.
