I doubt it. Usually what happens is the evap canister gets saturated with gas. You can either get an Evap code or in some cases, it takes forever for the tank to fill. When the canister becomes saturated with fuel, it will case the gas pump to click off. You might get a 1/4 gallon in it at a time.

I see people do this a lot with “fuel rewards”. Where you save like 30c a gallon. They just keep topping off the tank after the pump shuts off. If they damage the evap tank, they will have lost money. It’s not worth topping off the tank once the pump clicks off.

If you're wondering about a canister/evap issue causing a symptom just disconnect the purge line at the intake manifold and cap it off. Drive it and see if the problem goes away.

Thanks. After work today I went to hook up the obd, the brake lights were on again, not sure how long. Obd said no codes. Connected the charger, pulled the brake pedal switch out. It has 2 big and 2 small male spades. The 2 big ones test normal, good. The 2 little one failed miserably. Time for a new one.

Thanks. Hopefully replacing my stuck brake switch will solve the no acceleration issue.

Mine with sometimes stay on due to my brake controller switch so definitely worth checking this as mine is intermittent but happens more in hot temperatures.

To follow up, after finding the brake lights on again after work, I unplugged the stop lamp switch and hooked up the battery charger. Got my hands on a new switch, stuck it in, problem solved.

I should note the new switch looks different, blue instead of white, and includes a brown collar the switch snaps into, I used my old one.

The associated no acceleration issue might have been caused by the ecu seeing brake applied. The short drive to get my morning red eye coffee was normal without the no acceleration problem.

Thanks to all for the replies.
