2002 PreRunner TRD- Later today after a morning outing I discovered my brake lights were on while parked and had been for about 6 hours. This includes the brake light on top of the cab roof.
I'm looking for a "Brake Light Fuse" to pull to stop the battery drain while I trouble shoot. None of the fuses in the fuse pod identify as Brake Lights.

    1. Does anybody know if/where a Brake Light fuse is?

    2. Any ideas as to what the Brake Light problem is?

    Thanks.

Check the actuator down by the brake pedal.

I just pulled the battery cable to prevent draining the battery.

My problem was the little plastic disc on the back side of the brake pedal arm that depresses the plunger on the brake light switch had disintegrated and needed to be replaced. I bet you'll find little pcs of plastic on floorboard around the pedals.

Can get them at any auto parts store.

Aside from some contortioning to work up there it's an easy job. Just reconnect the battery and turn the key on when doing it as it makes it sooo much easier to push the pedal for the access you need. Learned that the hard way after fighting it for a while.

Probably the cushion that depresses the brake switch has disintegrated.
Labeled Cushion Plate in the diagram below, Toyota P/N should be 90541-06036

2nd the "cushion" - it was a $1.80 at the dealer took like 30 seconds to install. Had exact same symptoms.
