    Hi everyone,

I got 3 out of the 4 brake line retainers out, but the one on the left here (upper) appears as if I can’t get any leverage to get it out:

I sprayed Pb blaster on it and backed the 10 mm flare nut out about a quarter turn and it did nothing to help my case. I can’t get anything to the left or right of the clip to push, and I can’t fit pliers onto the lip to pull straight out because the bed is in the way. Anyone have any advice? Maybe if I take the flare nut completely off it’ll be easier? I have a long bed and I noticed my setup is slightly different than the short beds regarding accessibility.

All 4 are off and now those 10 mm flare nuts just do not want to come off… this will have to wait until tomorrow now.

Yeah it’s a standard flare nut to get the actual lines off. I’m just soaking with PB overnight and will hit them in the morning with my wrenches again. What a pain in the butt.

Oh, I see. The side we can see is the female side? At first I thought these were the traditional spring clip style.

The side you see is the female. You can only see the line that’s being replaced. On the top side there’s a retaining clip that’s holding the female in place so the hard brake line (10 mm flat nut) can connect to it. Looks like this on top:

Yep! Went to Lowe’s just to get a set. It was the only way I could grip the top and wiggle it loose.

Just the first one so far. I think I was supposed to crack the flare nuts open when the clips were still on.

I’ll put the clips back on the second one and crack them open to try again.

I ended up getting it. For anyone following in my nasty footsteps just crack the 10 mm flare nuts before you take the clips off. Once they’re off you lose leverage as the brake line is mobile after that.
    B85CFEFC-BE24-4AB2-BA00-457F270AC481.jpg

Also I saw that my flare nut threads on one of my lines was kind of stripped from factory (noticed it when backing it out). If I overtightened it would just spin so I snugged it until it was tight but not skipping threads. I don’t see leaks so I assume it’s a non issue?

Now I guess I’ll just move on to the 1-man bleed and purge all the air and I’m good to go?
