No kidding. Notice just came out. Said more info will be provided. It is clear what causes the issue. If it is a concern then don't do those things. It take time to produce 200k of almost anything, get them shipped, get dealers to ramp up, and notices to be sent out to everyone who will need the fix.

Yeah, was hoping to get my truck by mid march but looking more like April now, wouldn’t be in a issue if my truck hadn’t been written off

That tracks with Toyota's notification to the NHTSA from about a month or so ago.

Are there ANY new 2025s coming into dealers lots that can be sold right now?

The "quick" fix for Toyota is make more Sports and/or put the Sport wheels on the ORs. Just change the specs on the website. 75% of OR buyers wouldn't know/care that they're riding on 18s vs 17s.

I would assume plenty since it is only trucks with 17" wheels.

I should have said ANY 17" wheel trucks.

Jeez, fastest fix might be to use up all the 18" wheels they have in stock

I just bought one Monday with 17" wheels. It's 2WD. I believe the recall is for 4WD only but I fully expect it to cover 2WD after they get caught up on the 4WD. They probably figure the 2WD can wait since it's far more unlikely for them to have problems in the short run plus this allows at least some sales to continue.

Replacing 4 17" rims/tires with 4 18" rims/tires, for the entire recall population might be "fastest" (if 18" rims/tires exist in such numbers), but that's a very very expensive solution. No chance.

The quick fix for Toyota to keep selling new Tacomas, not fix ones that are already sold.

I wonder how many unsold trucks there are. A set of wheels probably costs them at least $1000, and a matching set of tires around the same. $2k per truck is quite a bit of money. That's a pretty big blow to the bottom line that can be avoided with a cheaper, forthcoming solution I suspect is a revised brake line that reroutes more sensibly. Sure, the sales numbers look worse for a quarter while they figure things out, but it's not like those trucks won't get sold pretty quickly later. This is a huge corporation with lots of big-brained accounting people working for them. If just slapping 18" wheels on there was a reasonable solution, they'd probably already be doing that.

it’s only 17” wheels with 4 wheel drive. Plenty others to sell.

They could ship 18" wheels to dealers with inventory to replace the 17 inchers. That would get new trucks off of the lot. Then when they fix the problem, they ship the new trucks with steelies and put the 17s on before sale.

I asked about that and tried to order some TrailHunter rims. First of all can't order those (VIN locked - at least in Canada) and second the VIN of the truck is locked to the recall so they can't sell it even if I put 18" rims on it

Yes, but you missed the second half. 2wd with 17” wheels were not recalled.
