    I got my letter in the mail today, parts are available yet for the sport. Not sure if it's even any different....
    Letter said, we will notify you on the next step when parts become available, bla bla bla

    I think the goal was to bring the hose loop inside the diameter of the caliper so that the caliper will do all of the mud and snow clearing instead of the hose... Theoretically, seems like it should work.

    Unfortunately, all they did was to shorten the brake line. As I stated above, the clearance went from 1/2" to approximately 1 1/2" (I have a 24 OR). The rubber line (length) is needed to remove the caliber for service. A better fix would have been to redesign the entire caliber/tube route. That will never happen because of $...

    I never saw any pictures of the failed hose. Not sure if anyone else did either, but there has been lots of talk of the failure being caused by ABRASION due to build up of mud or snow/ice on the inside of the rim.

    While abrasion may be the cause, I think it more likely that rapid flexing of the hose due to being hit by buildup on the rim one or more times per revolution is a more likely cause. The point where the hose enters the end crimp can be particularly vulnerable to flexing damage.

    If flexing is the cause, wrapping additional abrasion resistant layers to the hose isn’t going to provide a true cure.
