Isn't reducing the braking distance a good thing?

Off road is the only place ABS can be a detriment. ON THE HIGHWAY, if the ABS is kicking in you are either driving too fast for the conditions or you need new tires (or both)

Except in the OP's case where rears locked up first? Or the 240-some threads where people have had issues with the system? Or the 400,000 Prius's that were recalled in 2010 for bad ABS software? lmao

It is obvious that you have very little knowledge of what the ABS System is designed to do and how it does it.

The ABS System doen't reduce braking distance and was not designed to reduce braking distance. Maybe spend some time actually reading up on ABS and maybe you will do better.

I'm unwatching now, this is boring. You've brought nothing enlightening to the table in the form of proof and now you're defeating yourself. Farewell, friends!

Ok, I did say that. I should have worded it better.

The study that was completed on vehicles between 1995 and 2007 are old news with respect to the systems used in 2018.

    Better?

And your Argument about "Run Off The Road" fatalities is bogus as that is out of the operating design for ABS.

If you disabled your abs and got into an accident with me and hurt me, my lawyer would gladly take from you every penny you have ever earned and give it to me. Disabling abs on a public road is beyond reckless and stupid especially from someome who doesnt even know what the purpose of abs is. You know abs is mandatory since 2004...

What the op is describing is not mormal brake/abs function and therefore not representative. Take your truck to the dealer and get it fixed.

I guess taking these posters into account i should add... that was sarcasm.

I absolutely hated my ABS until I got comfortable with spending money on good tires. With good tires and a soft foot on the brakes, it's not a problem - as long as I'm not going too fast for the conditions.

I do enjoy the TRAC feature.

Always love internet tough guys. My lawyer blah, blah, blah. Hope you didnt put a lift on your truck or aftermarket bumpers, because my lawyer would gladly take from you every penny you have ever earned and give it to me as you truck Is now higher and with a modified crumple zone that can kill my wife in her little prius when your abs lets you roll through the wet intersection and broadside her.

Thinking about it, if you even have oversized tires I bet my lawyer can successfully argue that you have negatively affected the braking and abs system when you killed my wife.

Hint, i dont have a lawyer and even saying you do is one if the lowest forms of humble brags.

Disabling a mandstory safety feature that enables you to still steer your car when your wheels would otherwise be locked up would affect your liabilities a lot more than having a lifted truck or aftermarket bumper as long as lifting etc is legal in your jurisdiction. It's all about legal presidence.

Even if disabling your abs would make you stop faster I still wouldn't just for liability reasons. Plus if you are in an accident your insurance company probably won't cover costs if they find out. Nobody likes lawyers including me, I just wanted to stress the fact to keep in mind personal liability and how it could ruin your life forever.
