Hi everyone. I have an 08 double cab PreRunner that makes a noise when I first take off from a start. I have noticed it seems to be coming from the brakes because if I hold my foot on the brake peddle it will not make the noise until I release it. It only does this when the truck has been shut off, even if its only been 10 minutes or so. I am only moving ay 3-6mph when it happens. It kinda sounds like pressure being released. A quick, not very loud noise. I called the dealer and they've not yet gotten back to me and I have searched the forum for similar issues. Anyone experiencing this or know what it may be? Thank you for any help. Sam

Sounds like the ABS, it normally only does it after it's been shut off over night or so. Mine does it every morning when I pull it out of the garage. It's probably normal, I'm not sure it should do it every time you restart your truck though.

I found this on another post on this same issue.
"The noise you are hearing is the ABS system doing it's system check, this will happen every time you stop the engine, let it stand for about 15min or more and then start out again. There is nothing wrong with your truck, they all do it and yes Toyota INC. is still working on a fix for this."
    Hope this helps.

Mine does this also but its only when i go in reverse if the truck has been shut off alittle while. It only does it for a few seconds, i usually can pump the brakes as im backing up and it stops within a few seconds.

Thank you all. You would think the service manager at the dealership would have known this but who knows? Thanks again. I'm sure we'll talk more later.
