Do you have a tune? And any parts replaced by the dealer?

Never happened to me on stock tune. Where are you in Fla? If you can get to Jax I will see if you are tuned or not.

It's got to be either the TPS or TPPS (see previous posts) or possibly the brake light bulbs. Or the tune if you happen to be running one but that was only observed on 2019 models in all of my research and experience.
And please put your truck specs in your signature. Too hard to look back to see what you are driving.

copy that, calling down there today. if I can get it back and they have yet to find any issue I am definitely heading up there to see if it has a tune on it. I saw a few post back some guy has a 2016 limited and was saying it happened with his on the 87 base tune. if mine does would you be able to flash back to stock? I will be going to NC during thanksgiving time and not trying to get stranded in BFE on i95 or in the woods somewhere lol

I can fix you up brother!
Did you scan for DTC’s to see if there was a code? Mine had a P2119 for throttle valve position and they still wouldn’t replace a part. I came and picked it up.
Flashed back to stock until Mat sent me a pre-beta tune for testing (04B31) and have had no faults since. On earlier models, I’ve seen throttle valve replaced or bad brake light bulbs. It’s a scary fault for sure.

Do you know what ECU ID you have?
There may be a member in Tampa that can help you out. Maybe ask in the Florida thread? Either way, I am happy to help you out.

I need to clarify. I can only determine if you are tuned or not and scan for any codes. I cannot flash back to stock as you haven’t purchased OV tune yet. Sorry for any confusion!

@G8R_Taco no problem man appreciate all the info! just got off the phone with the actual foreman of the shop. wasn't in at the shop yet, but they have the new ECU coming in today and they finally got the code to pop up which is the P2119 code. they have completely replaced the throttle body assembly and new cam position sensors. once they replace the computer today I believe they will be releasing it to me from what it sounded like.
if they do not replace the bulbs I will replace once I get the truck back. I will keep you posted for sure!

Damn! I may have to drive to Tampa for service! My dealership won’t replace shit unless they get freeze-frame data when the fault happens. Which dealership in Tampa?

@G8R_Taco toyota of tampa bay, they got the freeze frame two days ago finally. Second tacoma i bought from them and they have been very reasonable with me since the old taco too. I know they actually kind of care about there customers lol i only live 3 minutes on gps from the dealer which is definitely a plus on my side lol

Dealer came back with saying whatever tune that was installed on the truck was not fully developed and had a glitch within the tune. They replaced the whole computer with stock tune and all the wiring harnesses. Hope this issue helps other people. Thanks for all the info everyone! I will write an update if the problem happens again... im hoping its fixed for good!

I’ve driven over 2000 miles since the one time issue that I had. Zero problems.

Happened again today coming home from 2500 mile round trip. This time I was running beta 2.0 tune, but I doubt its the tune. I had my laptop and flashed back to stock to get things working and so the dealership won’t blame me or the tune and I’ll report back with what I come up with. Been problem free for over 4500 miles.

Yes please let us know how this shakes out.
This is concerning! I have over 5000 miles tuned without any issues since 1.05.

The guy I spoke to at the dealership claimed there’s nothing he can do, unless it’s currently doing the error. I told him next time I’m on the side of the fucking interstate on a steep hill he’ll be sure to hear from me and tow the truck. With that being said, just last night I got the pre collusion avoidance system error which is also gone now, but it makes me wonder. Are the two related?

I believe they are related but not sure. I think the pre collision system also uses the front camera thing at the top of the windshield as well as the mm wave radar.
My dealership said the same thing. They put 100 miles on it with no fault. I picked it up and it did it on the way home. But this was on the 1.05 tune before Mat sorted out the code. No faults since and I ran an early pre-beta tune to test for Mat due to the brake override issue. Not sure what's going on with your truck man!

I am at zero issues after toyota replaced the computer and went back to stock program, have put over 3500 miles on the truck since then with no issues. You maybe should have your dealer contact toyota of tampa bay to see if they have any sort of clue if it is a aftermarket tune. I was told there were missing shift points which would cause the truck to go into limp mode. I can update again in the future to let anyone know if there are any more issues with the truck
