I’m stock, except for that stupid led 3rd brake light that came with bestop, wasn’t even gonna use it at first.

I didn’t tap any wires I used a brake harness so I wouldn’t have to cut factory plug or use vampire clips

Got the truck back, stop light switch assembly and a brake bulb was replaced. All good now.

Good news! Thanks for posting the resolution...One question, the switch at the pedal proper?

Just an FYI, if you don't have a part number go to https://www.toyodiy.com/parts/ plug in your VIN and then find the part number. Once you have the number, plug that P/N into your favorite search and you'll find some wholesale prices from dealers on the www. In the example above you can save over ten bucks...

20220923_170738.jpg Brake override malfunction happened to me yesterday. No led taililights or anything. Just a 2 inch lift, gearing, pod lights and an aftermarket stereo system that was installed over 3 years ago. Truck starts everytime but it's in limp mode. I live on a hill and needed to put it in 4lo to get up my driveway. Now its stuck in 4wd. I did disconnect the driver door beep wire years ago. I'm just out of the basic 3 year warranty. Having it towed to the dealer Monday. Stop fuse is good. Does the 5 year powertrain warranty cover this. The truck is undrivable as is. 38k. Thanks.

Crap. Was going to wire in my Kemimoto light and use FBC harnesses. Now I’m paranoid. Friend was stuck on the side of the FWY with this problem last night and his 10amp STOP fuse blew and we swapped it. We both have the same aftermarket tail lights. Now I’m concerned to mess with anything to do with the tail-lights.

I hear you, I’m paranoid to touch anything now. But seems to be hit or miss, maybe the led third brake light I was using did something weird with the voltage?

Had this happen to me yesterday on my 22 Tacoma. Drove it to the dealership and they couldn't find anything wrong other than the stored code (P2119) and cleared the check engine light. They couldn't replicate the problem while they had the truck and told me to bring it back if it did it again. Truck is completely stock other than some Diode Dynamics fog lights and a Diode Dynamics hidden light bar which I've had on there for a year with no issues. Prior to having the Break override malfunction come up it did feel like my truck was a bit sluggish while shifting gears a couple times but I figured it was nothing major just because of how cold it's been lately (I live in Canada and we've had a bit of a cold snap) On Friday I was stuck in traffic after work and it felt like my truck was going to stall, it shuddered a bit and felt like it was bucking, again I didn't think anything of it and figured that maybe it was just me not paying attention to what gear I was in and releasing the clutch too fast or something. When I got the truck home from the dealership today I checked both the STOP fuse and the throttle fuse and both were fine. Truck ran fine after its dealership visit but I'm kinda at a loss as to what the issue might be. Anybody have any further input on this??

Were you able to resolve this issue?
