I guess you can keep going until the truck fails to stop.

But the only way to know is like @Sharpish said. Take a look and see how far worn the pads are.

I guess it depends on the sounds. If it turns into a grind. You’ll know it is time.

If you have noise while braking either pull the wheels and inspect the brakes yourself or have them inspected ASAP, once they go metal to metal things go south very quickly and you could end up needing alot more than just pads and rotors.

I've seen brakes last anywhere from under 10k mi to over 200k mi, just depends on the driver.

Impossible to say without knowing how much pad is left. You can probably get an idea without even taking the wheels off.

Always more than one way to look at things.

Everything will fine as long as the guy in front of you has brakes.

I think I'd prefer the guy behind me to have brakes, I like the back of my truck the way it is.

In case you passed the previous 8 posts telling you to remove your wheel and visually inspect your brakes, I'm here to say try pulling off your wheel and take a look at your brake pads. Usually you can go an easy 80,000 miles before pads need replacing, but it varies depending on how much braking you do and how heavy your gf is.

I wouldn't worry. If the brakes don't stop it, something else will

I’ve seen people drive with brakes grinding until the pad falls out. Then they are stopping with the caliper piston lol. Until it pops out and then no brakes

Grinding, plan to drive it like that til December. Woe is me. If you like to be able to stop, don't drive another 5 months grinding. You could possibly look through the wheel spokes and see the rotors.

    All stock, baby!
Are you saying you can't do any maintenance or repair for five months, no matter how serious? Seems like something got dropped from that sentence, so I doubt that's what you're actually saying. Brakes are of course a critical safety feature, for both you and the people around you. If you inspect the pads and find that they're shot, you need to either stop driving the vehicle or replace them; it's as simple as that. You already know they're making noise, so the inspection is a must; you've got to discover what's causing it.

Standard thickness for the front brake pads is 11.5mm; minimum is 1.0mm but you probably should replace them sooner than that, perhaps 2-3mm. Inboard and outboard pad thickness should not differ by much, maybe 1-2mm, otherwise your caliper likely needs to be rebuilt/replaced.

Get in there and get a picture from the top on both sides like in this post, and make note of the rotor wear on both sides of each caliper. Post the pics, we'll help assess.

That’s why Toyota provided rear brakes…
