I’m still on my original pads. I was starting to wonder if they ever need replacing. Now I know.

I picked up the Napa akebono pads. Primarily because they came with the caliper shims.

    https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/AKEACT906B

Decided to get it done today. The shims didn’t look correct, frigin great. So I reused the old ones. It went as expected, very easy. Except I expected the old pads to be worn more than they were, guessing 40% left. I’m at 108k miles. Not being the original owner I don’t know if they’ve been done at some point.

I pulled the pads off almost exactly a year and about 5k miles ago. I accidentally ordered pads for a 6 lug back then. They looked somewhat low so I figured I’d need to replace them soon. Then I started hearing squeaking, guessed I was on the wear indicators. Not even close.

Squeaking is gone. I haven’t slammed it hard yet.

I went with the trd pads for my 09 as well. They are great so far I have 13k miles on them and installed them at 103000. The rotors and pads were toast and I replaced both. I used oem rotors but they were on back order 2 years ago
