So last time i made a post it was related to my brakes, i never got around to taking my calipers off and greasing them up. But my uncle whos a gear head told me he seems to think its my ABS module. We were unable to move my inside pad on my left front caliper, however my outside pad moved fairly freely. We bled the line on that wheel and were able to move my pad a little but not like we wanted. My brakes are so tight after driving only a few miles they are practically locked up and im forcing my truck to move, they build up intense heat too. Ive looked around for ABS modules and im only finding used ones on ebay for around a $100. Ive called auto parts stores and they dont have them. Im going to call Toyota tomorrow. So my question is, has anybody experienced this before? Had to replace an ABS module? Thanks

Can you pull the ABS relay? You should have normal brakes, just no ABS. Do this to test to see if it is actually the ABS module. Report back what you find.

sounds like your caliper is seized. ABS should only control if your wheel stops moving to prevent locking up (makes sense if your brake is stuck against the rotor)

caliper rebuild kits are fairly cheap from Toyota.

but if it's bad enough might need new ones

Alright, I went to go pull my ABS fuse. (60a). And it wasn't budging. So apparently after a little googling you have to take the fuse box apart and take the fuse out from underneath. There's actually 2 ABS fuses 60a and ABS2 30a. Ill need to find out which one to pull. Hell ill do both if need be. Im probably going to hold off until Saturday. I have some after market stuff im on truck from the previous owner that I want to take off anyway, so that way I can make a day out of it. But ive put my truck on a jack and tried turning my front wheels after driving one day, we'll that wasn't happening. And the rotor burned the shit out of me when my finger slipped over it. They were HOT! Well yesterday, all 4 rims were too hot to touch also. Ive forgotten what its like to drive something that wasn't struggling to move. My calipers do seem like they're seized, I just feel like its something beyond the caliper.

You may have a collapsed brake line. They act like a check valve when that happens. The pressure doesn't release when you take your foot off the brake pedal.

Not sure if y'all will get a notification from this. Turns out it was my master brake cylinder. The cups flipped and it wouldn't release pressure. But I do have warped rotors now, however the truck drives like a dream again.

Oh yeah! Good point, I forgot about that. I bought the new master from Oreillys for $170. It was a night and day difference with my brake pedal. However, my ABS has kicked in twice after replacing my master. I'm wondering if it's turning on when my rotor is at the right spot and my pads aren't grabbing it just right. But when I get those replaced I'll keep it updated. Thanks again for the advice. And yes I'm happy my truck is almost back to normal.

Prolly the opposite, the caliper is grabbing the rotor and actually stopping it, thus stopping the wheel. Minute wheel skidding are causing the ABS to kick in. I think once those rotors are changed, all those issues will be done.
