That's a totally different rotor and hub design. The 5 lug Tacomas have the rotor bolted to the back of the hub. They are very similar to the pre-taco trucks(pre 95.5) (almost identical if you weren't comparing side by side if I remember correctly)

Yeah I pull that a part every two years to repack that thrust bearing in there....

I just pull the hub out and leave the rotor hanging there by the calipher...

I'm 90% sure your gonna have to find a salvage hub on line...

shouldnt be that hard to find.....

and then spring for a decent set of aftermarket rotors....not the cheapest....

when you put the new one together....use the high temp anti seize made for that.

and get use to servicing it every two or three years......

Makes me wonder what the calipers are like......in a pick up .....those are your ass....

I doubt he needs a new hub. Just needs a good stiff wire brush (harbor freight welding area for a very cheap and pretty decently stiff one) and some elbow grease. Then when reassembling FOR SURE coat the area where the hub and rotor are mated with anti-sieze!

He has to get the rotor off first.
A wire brush won’t get the rotor off.
He’s in a predicament, the truck is apart but not “apart”.

Decisions have to be made. I’d be beating it off, prying it off, heating it off……
Worst case, he gets a new hub.

I gotcha. I was thinking after he got them separated. Fair enough :anonymous:

Yeah, if the rotor comes off without damage , then reuse the hub by all means. But that things is rusted. There may be some unintended damage occur during the process.

Outside of the aforementioned heat, pb blaster, etc... I would get creative, and use the truck itself as a press if possible. Set the rotor on something (2x6s?) to get it's height up close to the frame rail, and then find something else the right size of hub, and put that between the frame rail and hub surface, then lower the jack putting the weight of the truck on it. Heat the rotor with the weight there. If that didn't work, I'd call in a ride and get it to a machine shop, or pick up a new hub.

Nope. That's the hub and rotor stuck together with rust. In order to replace the rotor you have to separate the 2. He took the bolts out (that secure the hub to the rotor) but they are stuck together with rust. One of the factors working against him is that the rotor bore is machined to a pretty tight tolerance. So any rust can make it seem like they are damn near fused together...

Now I see!! Damn these little phones, pics look much better on my laptop! Thx

I would just heat up that rotor right on the outer surface that contacts to the Hub, without worrying of overheating and with the replacement rotor near to hand.

This is the worlds worst scenario; you start off with a simple task, and it turns into the 800 lb. GORILLA!

Come on OP, did it come off yet?

Well I wanna say thank you for replying everyone! First Tacoma . I feel very welcomed .I tried everything . I did not try the torch tho . I don’t really know how to do that . Those bastards are so rusted together I been researching if they were an assembly together lmao . But anyways no parts at the store and no tacomas in the junkyard. Got new calipers and hubs coming in mail . And wheel bearings basically just all new brakes .

If you wanted the other one.....I'd offer em $100 for it.......
guess in the rust belt you cant have too many hub parts.

On these parts....I would clean em up and keep a light film of fluid film on them...
    especially the outer rear drums......

Bummer- I really wanted to know if using the weight of the truck would shake out.

Also don't be afraid of heat/torch. Heat is a great motivator to get things done. Considering the rust on those parts, you should for sure get yourself a little bottle torch for future work.
