Most big brake kits like StopTech that utilize the more advanced 2 piece top hat rotors with directionalized cooling require 18" wheels. StopTech does offer the single piece straight vain larger rotors (like used in this thread) in a big brakes kit for 17" wheels, but not their more advanced Areo rotors. Even the TRD big brake kit requires 18" wheels.

Wilwood offers a 2 piece directional vein big brake kit for Tacoma 17" wheels. I might try these out in the future.

I’m using the stop tech sport pads and have no complaints, stop better than factory.

Not really a lot of times simple things like changing oil brake fluid power steering flush etc. etc. is given to kids that are learning on the job and typically are high school age teens trying to work their way up so essentially. you are a guinea pig and at their mercy. Just have to hope they’re not going to completely f up your car when you give them the keys. I worked with some dealers techs on some service for insurance and it’s mind boggling what is actually going on in the back of the shop and the dumbest misstates that are made. Worse one I’ve seen is washer fluid added to brake fluid ... $8000 later new calipers master booster lines etc etc all cause someone is not paying attention or is a moron.

Apparently Stoptech makes a two piece kit for 16” the only difference is about 6lbs of weight

For a Tacoma? I didn’t see anything by StopTech in 2 piece that was Tacoma compatible in under an 18” wheel requirement.

Yeah now I have to decide if spending additional $300 is worth it. Their “normal” 6 piston big brake is $1600 6 lbs savings per rotor is tempting though

The aero rotors will have superior cooling and better performance, in addition to the weight savings.

Compared to the “normal” StopTech big brake rotors.

Edit: for specs, StopTech Aerorotors cite 80% more airflow for cooling over stock, and 61% more than any other rotor they tested, which presumably includes their own performance non-aero rotors.

What is the link to the set up you’re talking about ? Does it fit under 16” rim ? Price ?

It was the setup you mentioned earlier TR323.6ta, which uses the superior 2-piece aero rotors instead of the standard StopTech performance rotor. Aero rotors are directionally veined for superior cooling performance which is far better and more efficient than straight vein cooling of OEM or StopTechs standard performance rotors.

Oh I see my bad. So yeah it probably makes sense to add $300 when you’re forking out that much cash already.
