Yeah it depends on the balance shop. In general I hear it’s best to have them in the middle of the wheel rather than on the edge somehow it’s a better way of balancing (not sure if I buy that ) but one on the edge would be also more exposed to getting knocked off while off road /: thinking maybe I need to sell those and move to a 17” wheel altogether

Those are some nice wheels to part with. Thinking 17 Volks? Pro with 17s is there are more C-load tire options, which help lighten things up.

Yeah they are nice and I love the look with the red caliper. but 17s are not exactly available just yet. Worse case I might just stick with these if balancing weight on the side of the wheel works. I guess I could also try to balance using balancing beads. I figured that Once I use them for proper off road I fear it will be the end of keeping them at a good value point since scratches is almost guaranteed so if Get something else it’ll have to be done now while it’s at the shop getting the limits and clearances set up. I was gonna consider the volk replicas in 17 if these sell now. Figured at $200 per wheel they don’t hurt as much when you do put that gouge lol

A bigger tire would put those weights on the edge out of harm's way!:D
Ps Thanks for the help ordering up a set tonight...

You mean bigger wheel ? They do fit 16” but with some clearance issues when it comes to weights

LOL no he means bigger tire to get the weights on the edge of the wheel further away from the rocks.

17” wheels though are a good idea for more tire selection, that is what I run.

No I mean a 35" or 37" tire so that the weight sticks higher off the ground lol... I have the clamp on style on my 4runner with 34" tall tires and have never had any issues and I have beat on that truck. I have also had stick on's fall off with heavy mud as the caliper pushed the mud up against them and peeled them off so no win win in my book. I have yet to run balancing beads but since this truck will be on 35's with 16 wheels and these brakes might go that route....

Here's one of the calipers I am investigating for use with 17" wheels. It's a newer monoblock design by Akebono. It's from an OEM application and piston area is very close to the existing stock caliper. Like many recent modern calipers, it has a cast in center bridge for a great increase in stiffness. Pad changes are more involved, but that's non-issue here. Pads are large and of a funky asymmetrical design. Mount is radial. Pistons are 38/35/35.

That just looks like absurd amounts of dollars I'm not even sure where to start. Need wheels for scale!
