Maybe I don't know what I am talking about here but thought on the new gen that the crawl control and stability ties into the braking system and uses anti skid for controlling these. My guess is the may have not connected something or try replaced something with an after market part that just pissed of off the truck. Just saying, no expertise here.

It got the new suspenssion lift so yaw sensor reset is most likely the problem. Just shocked shop didn’t recalibrate it. Assuming it’s not related to master cylinder they supposedly replaced. I’m tempted to try the old school battery disconnect lol but that’s a fools arron most likely.

No, I kept the same master cylinder with no problems. The Wilwood kit is actually made for the 2nd gen trucks but I noticed that Toyota did not change any of the front brake parts going from the 2nd gen to the 3rd gens trucks. All of the part numbers are exactly the same.

Did you do the sensor calibration before? Typically this starts to become an issue around the 33+” size. If you managed to not do it before you were likely right on the edge and the slightly larger size put you over.

You mean the yaw sensor ? He says they did it but I have a sneaky feeling they didn’t.

New issue ! I’m in a role here omg. So rear Rt brake drum now is jamming. It’s appling the brake to it for some reason gets crazy hot compared to lt side. Reset the yaw and drove a bit and it’s chirping the stability control light on turns. I’m loosing it here.

Eeeek. Did you relocate the ebrake cable for more slack? Only think I can think of maybe it got yanked.
Saw you ripping through those whoops on IG. That camper was taking it! Reinforce those beds it’s your haven’t.

Oh yeah it was done with tc brackets. Paid a shop to take out the drum and adjust the pads down a bit since wheel was litteraly not spinning by hand. But still it’s getting hot so it’s probably still being messed with by stability control. I hate electionics.

Did you remove the ebrake line mount off the leaf spring is what Meso was referring to. There may be inadequate slack in the line if you dont.

@BigMike had problems with his drum brakes, he had to weld the two bottom pins , that the shoes rest against, to the backing plates. You might want to check and see if they are loose.

Yes, unbolt the brake line mount and ziptie it to the next forward mount under the cab.

Would you be able to take a picture of where you are referring to? I think I have a similar problem where my brake lines are rubbing on my leaf

Also great post will be doing this for sure

Hey @crashnburn80 , you been happy with the TRD pad and Stoptech Cyro set up?

I picked up a set of TRD pads during the TRD 40% off sale and just found a $100 off $200 purchase, bringing the Stoptech Slotted Cryos to $200 shipped.

After running these for a while, do you think the cyro treatment is worth the extra $35 a rotor?

    Appreciate the thorough write up!

I would also like to know how the pads and rotors are holding up. I'm at 78,000 on my brakes and my rotors are starting to shimmy on long drives. Are the stop techs worth the extra money or are oem rotors and TRD pads sufficient for the cost?

Hey @YotaBum , I just did the TRD pads and cryo rotors last month, have about 1100 miles on them.

It’s a great upgrade over stock IMHO. Brakes grab nicely and don’t fade. Shorter stopping distance. Feels more sure and stable but then again, I found a stuck piston in my drivers side caliper....

I am waiting on my Wilwoods kit to be shipped to me and can report back. Wilwood has been around forever and used in hot rods and such for years. I do not see why it wont. They also offer a version with external dust shields for extra dirt protection.

Just ordered some DBA 4000 T3 rotors to go with them. Wheelwell.com has $200 off $400 right now. Great pairing. The rotors in the SOS kit are not anything special, just stoptech in a certain size or fancier Centric rotors unless you buy the higher end setup with 2 piece rotors. I thought about that but if I have an issue off road its harder to replace. RR-Racing has a setup that uses the wilwood aero6 but you can mate with 5th Gen T4R rotors. Easy to replace if needed. All in all it cost me around $1400 I believe
