Thanks to COVID, I haven't driven my Tacoma much in the past couple of years. Still looking to upgrade stock brakes, but probably not an actual BBK, as I'm not sure that provides a good ROI. Have, therefore, looked for parts listed in OP for some time. TRD Pads (PTR09-89111) have been out of stock everywhere and StopTech sport slotted rotors (126.44129CSR & 126.44129CSL) increased 60%-90% in price. For anyone looking, the TRD pads appear to be back in stock at about normal price from number of places. The rotors remain available, but price is still inflated. Price difference for non-cryo is about the same, at $35-$40/ea, but that "feels" like less at the nearly $200/ea price point vs the previous $115/ea.

@crashnburn80, is all of this still the upgrade path you'd recommend? Anyone got a line on the rotors for less?

What’s the good word on calipers, Norton? I’m striking out on availability. Haven’t payed attention to the price but I’m sure that’s up as well. Seein’ signs I’m needing to do this soon. Much like your situation.

Ive been watching these cryo rotors for quite a while, and also noticed there seemed to be some issues with the latest TRD pads; with the price of the rotors, and those pad issues, I think I'm probably just going to stick with the stock pads and rotors. They've done really well for me so far, and not terribly priced.

Haven't spent much time on calipers, as I believe mine remain serviceable. IMO, unless going BBK, sticking with stock calipers probably makes the most sense. (I'm also on 16" wheels, limiting BBK options. Those with larger wheels may see better ROI, because they can go with a larger setup.)

I also saw some of those TRD pad reports.

That leaves a little to be desired in terms of warm and fuzzy. As a software developer, I would prefer to have a non-tech solution to avoid a crash as a backup plan. Though I guess I didn't have that in the prius either? And it's not like hydraulic lines are impossible to damage either but they seem a lot more robust than a wire/battery as a critical link.

Well @crashnburn80 your writeups once again influenced my rotor choice! Reading through this and other threads, I figured I'd pick up the power stop z36 pads to go on with the stoptech cryo slotted rotors.

    About the Taco:
'17 Taco with 75+k miles, just had my annual state inspection done and they noted my pads were down to 1/4 pad.
Rotors definitely have lips, and after research and reading through here, that didn't make a lot of sense.

No stoptech rotors from TireRack until October. Anyone have issues with ordering from PartsHawk? Looks like they have stock and delivery for next week.

I did the same. Only place that had them in stock for <$190. Worth noting, I was told one of the rotors was backordered and would ship directly from the distributor. But when my box showed up, both rotors were there. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.

I just ordered some as well. Starting to get bad wheel shake when the rotors heat up.

What are people using for pads now, since the TRD pads seem to be discontinued? (I know some places have stock again, but there are a lot of posts about the new ones having issues.. likely counterfeit or something).

If you cannot find the TRD Sport pads, it was mentioned somewhere in the thread from a former StopTech employee IIRC that those are relabeled StopTech Sport pads. Having used both, they seem nearly identical.

My truck has about 320K mi now. I installed slotted EBC rotors and green stuff pads around 2015. I had a coolant leak so I took my truck to the garage where they did an overall assessment. They recommended new pads and rotors, stating that the rotors didn't have enough material left to machine. I haven't felt any shimmies when breaking.

I looked into the stoptech rotors, but at around $160 a rotor it doesn't really make sense for me. I found this OEM parts source as the cheapest for breaks, rotors, and headlamps (no affiliation)

    www.toyotaparts.bochtoyotasouth.com

I think I'm just going to go OEM
