    2013 Tacoma SR 5 Access cab, V-6.
Purchased 7-16-13 (new), current mileage, 3910, yes 3,910.
Started to have a pulsating from the brakes, took it to the selling dealer who is great, they identified the rotors had excessive lateral run out as did the rear brake drums.
They turned both front and rear, ( under warranty) and the pulsating is gone.
I have had a number of new veh., including Toyota's and never had this problem, much less with so few miles.
Anyone else out there with a similar problem?
    Thanks for a great site.

    John

I had this problem with an older 4-Runner of mine. The brakes were not designed or sized properly for the vehicle and when the brakes would heat up the rotors would warp. As a result, the brakes would shudder when you applied them. It was safe but annoying. I think drilled or slotted rotors would have dissipated the heat and taken care of the issue but I sold the truck!

I would have asked for a replacement instead. By turning the rotors (who does that anymore?!) they have effectively made your rotors more 'worn'

Also by turning them you reduce the heat dissipation quality's. Rotors are so cheap now as well.

Factory cruise added, wood storage box in bed, wood center console/armrest, charcoal air filter delete.
All 4 warped in 4000 miles means either some extreme driving or the brakes are dragging; likely the brake push-rod adjustment is too tight.

I had this same issue on my 96 4Runner, Happened right after I towed a small boat to the lake and again after excessive Off Road trips. I endend up getting slotted rotors and never had the problem again. But i also have never towed a boat yet. But still Off road Excessively.

slotted and cross drilled are nice to have, the run way cooler. Also help stopping distance.

I've run into the same issue on my 1st gen. The rotors were warped at 20K and the dealer replaced them. Interestingly the problem appeared just a couple of days after having the tires rotated at the dealer.

A few months went by and I had the truck back for another rotate and oil change (Free dealer service plan when I bought the truck). A couple of days later the rotors were warped.

I ended up taking the truck to a different dealer and had a chance to talk to an old time mechanic. Guy reminded me of Grizzly Adams just not as clean cut. He came back and told be the problem was the wheels were over tightened and causing the rotors to warp after a heat cycle which made sense.

They replaced the rotors one more time and torqued the wheels down. I've made sure to repeat the process and obviously stopped going to the original dealer. I never had a warping issue after that.

Not saying it's your issue but food for thought.
