Mine (6MT) is pretty normal until speeds drop down to under 10 MPH or so…then they’re super grabby. Most non-linear brakes of any of the 30+ vehicles I have had over the years. Add the body pitch from the OR suspension and it’s hard to not look incompetent in parking lots. And my poor pup has been thrown around the cab during “surprise emergency stops” which is what I feel the worst about.

Anyone experience an improvement with brake pad changes?

How did this turn out for you? I just upgraded from an '08 with 248k to a '22 with 19k and havent gotten used to the "grab" in the three weeks ive had it.

TRD off-road (and Pro?) has a hydraulic brake booster, whereas others have the more common vacuum booster. I believe this is to support the crawl control feature, but could be mistaken.

There is a notable difference in the amount of pedal travel and effort required to brake.

One year in, I'm mostly used to it but still has me apologizing to passengers on occasion.

MT trucks get a vacuum booster (no crawl control, etc), so if this is better, I’d hate to try a hydroboost truck..

I always thought I had to press the pedal down pretty far on my 09 before anything started to happen, even with decent brake pads. The third gens are a bit better. I’ve adjusted ok tho

That is incorrect, Pro and OR Manuals have the hydraulic booster to operate A-TRAC.

Correct, the (Pro - OR) hydraulic booster runs crawl control on the automatic and A-TRAC on the manual.

Back in the day, step father passenger seat. Me stoned out of my brain driving. The vehicle: Cadillac sedan… This car had some serious power brakes, I was so baked I almost put him through the windshield several times.

It wasn’t the car it was my foot, totally Spicoli and not used to good brakes lol!

I stand corrected. Sports are vacuum boosted though, right? Maybe that’s what I was thinking of.

Yep the 2016-2017 SR Manual and the Sport Manuals have the traditional vacuum booster.
