My front brakes squeak. I have 15,000 miles on the truck. I have completed many brake jobs over the years and am sure I can fix it. However, the dealer SHOULD be the one fixing it. At the dealer, I was told there is no grease between the pad and caliper, Toyota stopped putting grease there years ago. This is where the squeak comes from. Can anyone tell me, IS THERE GREASE BETWEEN THE PADS AND CALIPERS? This is my first Toyota and have yet to buy the factory maintenance manual. Thanks in advance for your help.

    It's not grease.... It's called Anti-Squeel.

Toyota uses special anti squeal sheet. The first gen trucks had a piece of -what looked like - steal sheet inbetween the caliper and pad.

My 2nd gen had a similar pad but one side was coated with a rubbery substance (no grease). I re-used them and applied a coating of anti-squeal spray.
This spray is not grease. It's a tacky and thick once it dries.
