On the auto zone web site they list two calipers for my 97 4runner. One with 16" wheels on -C9393 and one for 15" wheels C9390

I followed your v8 swap, awesome build! I purchased my 04 taco with a blown v6 and after reading your build thread i looked for a complete but wrecked tundra or sequioa so i could do a v8 swap. I had no luck finding a v8 donor truck. But i did find a low mile complete v6 so i went with the easy route, lol.

Mine keep bending back into place and grinding on the rotor. Just wondering if they'll bolt in so I don't have to keep bending mine back

Hmm. I haven't heard of that problem. If you try it out though, I'm very curious how it goes.

My truck just came due for front brakes. Did a little research and ended up sticking with OEM rotors and pads (ceramic) because shop I talked to said difference in price between aftermarkets was minimal. Research I came across also seemed to say a lot of people had better luck with OEM.

I just had my truck lifted this August about 3in with an Old Man Emu kit and am running 285s and have not noticed much of a decrease in braking power.
    I have a 2011 double cab 4X4 V6

My questions is should I have upgraded to better rotors and pads? Would the lift kit and bigger tires necessitate this?

Or do most people only upgrade if towing heavy loads or adding a lot of weight to their vehicles?

The 2nd Gens have bigger brakes compared to the 1st gens. The tundra upgrade made a big improvement on my 1st gen taco.

You'll be fine. I ran stock brakes on my 4Runner with 33's for 40k miles without issues and run v6 mini truck brakes with 37's on my Tacoma now. It stops fine and no warpage over the last two years.

Did the Tundra Brake swap tonight. 13WL fit with Method NV 16x8 4.5 BS. I have at most 1/4 -5/16" clearance at the narrowest point between the caliper and inside of the rim. Very minor trimming of the dust shield, one spot I just bent it back 1/4 inch.

    2nd gen 4x4 rotors are 319 mm. :)

If you really want to upgrade, you can get 338 mm rotors and calipers meant for the 4Runner Limited, code 13WH, but they require minimum 17" wheels to clear.
