I have had an M in the line up for 14 years - best Bimmers ever. I wish they made a M7 - oh wait a minute they do/did- the B7. the e65/e66 had their problems but still very fun! If you are doing bimmer on a budget - you better know how to do all your maintenance. Skip the dealer for anything other than warranty work or an ocasional cup of coffee.

 

I have had own AMG cars and currently onw MB 09 GL550 just for weekend car . I never take my Benz to dealership unless they have any recall or update software . A friend of mine take care my car since He had 25 yrs of experience of MB cars .

Well. since She already bought it she will enjoy the true Autimate driving machine . The M6 is very well handling over AMG cars and they're very fast at 80 to up top cause true F1 trans ( smg3) . If she lived in US she won't have lauch control which help take off faster (Euro model only ).

 

China, I know how she earns her money, but I cant say.

I test drove it with her today....I would pay $100K any second for that car...

Yeah you're right - Kia's, Chevy's, Pontiac's, Mazda's, Nissan's and Hyundai's are much better cars!

But what do the editors of Car and Driver know about cars! Okay I'm a bit prejudice - I've owned one form or another of a 3 series continually between 1985 and now. Total repairs other than brakes, tune ups, brake fluid and oil changes:

head gasket on a 81 320i
'dealer installed' trans failure (free tranny seal 'update' - mechanic pinched the bearing when he installed the seal) on a 1989 325is
radiator on a 1996 M3

Maybe it's me but I think a 3-series with a good mechanic are great cars (I personally think dealer mechanics suck - but that's my opinion). They are a good place for a mechanic to start - but most anyone that is a true 5 star guy typically comes from an independent shop that specializes in one or two brands).
