Brand new 2015 hiss at start up and shut down.

Pay attention @ sec 26 and 45 in the video.

Brand new 2015 tacoma with less than 500 miles on it. Engine start up hiss for about 25 seconds then went away. Another big hiss when shut off the engine. Sounds like air leak. All these sounds came from the airbox. I've checked to ensure the everything is secured and closed tight.

Although, no impact to performance or gas mileage, as far as I can tell. Didn't notice this when test drive.

I'll take it to the dealership but just wanted to know what could be the issue here? Or is it just because the new is still new? Engine is untouched since I bought it last weekend.

 

Don't you trust the Toyota dealership to fix it? No offense but that is exactly what they are there for. If they can't answer all your questions and take great care of your truck then take it to a different dealer. Its pretty hard to diagnose anything over the internet even with a video so there is really no point in speculation when you have a bumper to bumper warranty.

 

My 2015 does the exact same thing, don't think it's any problem. I actually like the sound!

New cars have a thing called a "*Warranty*"

Smog pump runs for a little while after you start the truck and a quick one after you turn it off.

 

yeah my 2013 does the same.. a lot of the new tacomas do that ive heard it all around sometimes it does it sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. don't stress it. you get used it and you start not to notice it.

 

I have the same thing at shut down. 2015 Sport.

 

Couple more complaints in this thread and they'll be forced to issue a recall.

 

Hey I have a 2013 TRD O/F and mine does same thing-I spoke to the dealer and had them listen to it to make sure, but it is normal. It is the secondary air injection pump, and its just air escaping the pressurized system. At least thats what my research turned up and what the dealer tech said...

I was told that the noise just after start up comes from the ABS system. My 14 v6 does not make the noise after shutting down. The tech said it was normal.

Now I feel much better because I am not alone. But I strongly believed toyota should at least look into this. It's annoying for 30k+ vehicle.
