I feel your pain OP. I had a 2016 Silverado that at 3K miles started having tons of problems. Many dealership trips, giving me every excuse in the book as why they can't fix it, had enough and traded it in. Took a loss but glad to get rid of it. Never owning another GM product again. Good luck bro.

Shit like this makes me sure I am keeping my 2nd gen until gen 4 comes out. Either that or it's time for a 4runner or ecoboost f150.

Sounds like your truck is normal for a 3rd gen OP, sorry to hear you don't like it. What kind of vehicle did you own previously? I think the problem is when people are switching from full size to tacoma and aren't used to the power band.

Sounds all normal to me for a 3rd Gen. Tacoma honestly. Don't worry you get used to it.

Mine does stutter some when I am riding around, but a lot of that depends on how heavy my foot is and how aggressive I am driving.
Then other times I don't notice it at all.
I think it is a bit smoother in "S" mode, at least mine doesn't drop down two gears going up an incline.
When I take mine to a dealer in a couple weeks i'll mention it and get them to check the atf levels.
Good luck with yours, I hope they do right by you

"Normal" and "common" are not always the same thing. TMS calls abnormal issues normal when they know they exist and can't or don't want to fix them. To be fair, it's pretty much the same across all manufacturers.

As has been said, 6 speed and not CVT. Go ask that person for documentation verifying their claims. At least get them to write down you have the 7 speed cvt. Then take that to another dealership

Flat out bullshit. A guy complains about his lemon, and it is the norm for the truck? Wrong, wrong, wrong. OP's truck is a bad one. He needs to get it fixed, period. Instead of crying here, he needs to go to Toyota and have them make it right. Apparently OP has never bought a new vehicle before. If it has been screwed up since day one, don't try and wait it out, make them make it right.

I could possibly see that in the 1st day or 2 but highly doubt they would give a refund on a 4 month old truck.

..or in those 4 months he could have stumbled upon 2260 page thread, where all his issues were documented and resolved...

Yes, exactly! All dealership service managers and techs look to Tacomaworld for advice and guidance on Tacoma related issues.

That is sarcasm by the way. There is a process, and one has to follow the steps, documenting that you followed the steps, in order to get a resolution. That is why I took a video of my truck acting up, and sent it to my service advisor. Process.

@Frankvan , I noticed that only if I fill up with regular gas. With premium , it doesn’t happen. It drives great.

    What did "advisor" say?
Oh wait, I know - truck drives normally, no new ecu updates, let me reset ecu...
    They do that since 2016.
BTW, torque converter shudder fix is going live this weekend..

Nah, he acknowledged receipt, and told me they would figure it out when I bring it in Wednesday morning. And, I get a loaner! All in all, I am impressed with this dealer. One month and 35 grand into the relationship, we are all good!

If I was selling Rangers, I'd go to Toyota and Chevy forums and post this stuff. They're not selling a whole lot.
