I removed the bracket that holds the cat pipe on (3 bolts) and it made it easier to get to the bolts on the heat shield. use a flare wrench made to take off the nut for the fluid line at the accumulator to avoid rounding the nut. When bleeding, attach a piece of clear tube (cant remeber, but I think its 1/4 OD) on the end of the bleeder, the other end in something like a gatorade bottle with some brake fluid in it and make sure the end of the hose is submerged. have your assistant pump the clutch a few times, then hold the pedal to the floor. Crack the bleeder about and 1/8 to 1/4 turn, youll see some air bubbles and or fluid come out of the bleeder, only have it open for a second or two, then close it. Have your assistant pull the clutch pedal from the floor with their hand. repeat this process until all you have is fluid coming out of the bleeder, and no air bubbles. watch your level in the clutch fluid reservoir and dont let it go empty as you go through the process otherwise you will suck air in and have to bleed it all out. The reservoir is small, so keep an eye on it.

The only 2 mods you absolutely need to do to a manual Tacoma are the ADM and a tune, in that order. All other mods are just for fun.

I have over 40,000 miles on mine after removing the accumulator and getting a tune with zero issues.

Wait until you reverse up an incline and it doesn't even have to be that steep. It's pathetic and embarrassing.

Look into the 2 Lo mod. It lets you run the truck in 2wd low range and that makes reverse much more usable from what I have heard

I just changed my trans fluid, used redline. Shifts way more smoothly, and at speed downshifts aren’t nearly as harsh. But I would break it in a little before changing.

I will give myself more time to get used to it before I change anything.

This is what I'm planning on doing. The ott tune seems to promise to get rid of that nanny Rev hang too, so I think that's what I wanna go with as well as the delete disc

I had the OV 2 tune for 2 years and a upgraded to KDMax 9 tune about 6 months ago. I will say any tune you pick is miles better than stock.

Amen to that brother. Seems like the ott is the hot stuff on TW and r/toyotatacoma these days and I have to say, I think I want in. I bet the tuner could let me sample the different tunes and I can see which one I like from there.

this accumulator thing has to be one of the Dumbest things I have ever heard of, Why don't they make it so your steering wheel not to react when you turn the wheel real fast or your brakes not lock up when you jam them on! oh wait they did that already, always trying to save us from those who can't drive.

I've never owned an auto in my life (30yrs old, so ~15yrs experience with mt). My mom was with me right after buying it and driving it home. I stalled it and she just looked at me like...:confused: I was like, yeah that was weird. 500 miles later I started googling if I was crazy or if the tacoma mt's were crazy!

everyone stalls it when there first learning, just part of the learning process. but things like anti lock brakes assume that you're to stupid to know how to counter steer

Lol. I guess I can't drive or counter steer because I like ABS.

The accumulator sucks though. You can get used to it, and drive fine, but the MT is way better without.

no your just too young to have driven one, with ABS you will stop in a straight line but not as fast and if you are on ice you may never stop :mudding::mudding::mudding::mudding:

This is one of the craziest things I've ever read on here...unless you're an absolute master at threshold braking in all situations, including ice and emergency stopping.

It is Friday though I suppose.....

The biggest adjustment I had to make was learning to give the engine higher RPM before starting out than any other MT vehicle I've ever owned. That being said, I'm looking forward to doing my ADM. I'm going the S2000 hydraulics hose version, and tossing the accumulator in the trash, where it belongs! I will also be installing the 2 wheel low mod, myself.
