Hoping to get some more experienced input here on my situation. I just joined last week and bought a 2018 SR5 DCSB on Friday. Well a lot has happened since then.

    1. The Dealer I purchased from on Friday lied that no black SR5 long beds were available anywhere in Texas so I went with the shortbed trusting them.

    2. A different dealer emailed me Saturday that they indeed have the black long bed in stock on the lot and that all dealers know the inventory from the Toyota portal.. So I went back to dealer 1 and raised a stink and they took back the short bed.

    3. Monday I go buy the black long bed I wanted, but it has 204 miles and they said it was on the lot 153 days.. No good explanation besides the long beds are less popular.

    4. Yesterday the AC seemed warm and my driver door lock isnt working so I'm already back at the dealer today with my 2 day old tacoma in the shop. The A/C has a TSB for the condenser fan so they are adding an extra one and replacing the lock actuator.

My gut is telling me I can't trust any of these salesmen and push for them to replace it with another black DCLB.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

Sorry for the issues you are having so far but it sounds like the dealership is taking care of them for you (besides being a tad shady during the buying phase). It would be a different story if they were being a PITA about it.

I don’t mean to bring you down but I doubt they will take your truck in exchange for a new one. They are not obligated to, as well as doing the repairs you are asking for under whatever warranty you may have gotten with it. But the fact that it has been there for so long is a little off.

    Thanks for the replies.
I added 5 years bumper to bumper on top of the 3yr factory so its all covered no cost. I'd be livid if I was shelling out cash already.

Also, the new dealership has a three day no questions asked exchange policy and I dropped it off today. I think I could hold them to that if I choose to, I just dont know if its worth the hassle.

Im from California, so I'm not sure if this can apply in Texas, but you can threaten to lemon law the car and possibly get an upgrade (4x4 TRD OffRoad for example). Something similar happened to my friends A/C when he bought a SR5 2wd DCSB and Toyota offered him an upgrade to a 4x4 when he threatened to lemon law (He put 10,000 miles on the SR5 already).

    Thanks all,

Got truck back today and feels good to be in it. They offered to swap out for another truck on the lot but I didn't really want to. I love that long bed so hoping it was just a fluke.

Any must do mods I should tackle 1st now that I can get attached? Thinking locks on the bed storage first.

holy poop would I be mad. And honestly my salesman did nothing to sell me the truck and is probably going to do nothing to help me if anything goes wrong with my brand new limited. So I def got the platinum warranty. I def will raise hell if anything does go wrong. but yeah salesman dont really give a poo about anyone. I walked in knowing what I was gonna buy. He just benefitted off of my preference.
