I contacted them mid-day Friday and didn’t get a reply so don’t expect anything until tomorrow.

This weekend we did load 2 dirt bikes ~ 450lbs and there is about 1” of suspension travel left before the bump stop.

I will be sure to keep everyone updated in what GS says

Just my 2 cents, I wouldn't be carrying a load at all back there until you speak with them. If there is something wrong, very well could make it worse. If they shoot you down might need to just bite the bullet and go with something else.

If you find yourself out in the cold with GS, reach out to Marie over at @HeadStrong Off-Road. She might be able to square you away with a package that keeps you near stock ride height.

Well it’s been 2 full days so far. I got one reply and they said “that’s weird it sits lower than stock height, can you send me a picture of your stock springs” which I did and no reply in over 36 hours.

They did not think the kink was weird or a problem. I would highly advise people NOT to get the standard duty springs from GS. Can’t comment on the HD.

But anyone following this thread - General Spring DOES NOT make the springs they sell. They are just a distributor. The same springs are available at AutoZone for cheaper shipped. If you Google “90-203” and “90-201” for the standard springs or “90-203HD” for the heavy duty springs you will find the same ones available at RockAuto and others as well.

Interesting. Mine sagged after a few months too but I blamed my aftermarket lift shackle and ultimately went with some bastardized dodge springs.

I wonder if they’ve switched manufacturers

I'm pretty sure Marie and them sold off Headstrong like 3 years ago. The company is still around though, far as I know still reputable but not as involved as they were

The springs that GS shipped to me are made by Dayton Parts and sold as “Stanley Spring” brand. On RockAuto they call it out as “Dayton” and as mentioned before you will see that all the parts houses sell the same spring. For example Napa’s part number is “NA90-203” which is obviously the exact same part with their sticker on it.

    :notsure:

their site still says its a family run business since its inception and a quick search on here has results with her name and headstrong but IDK and I guess it really doesn't matter although I would be a little sad to see her and her team vanish into the wind.

Yeah they never changed the site at all, I remember a few years ago people mentioned she and her husband (?) sold it. Some of those that knew them personally from this area. They were really active with the forum before which was cool

Sucks. Seems 2019-2020 took out quite a few vendors. After LowRange and Wheeler's were "absorbed", HeadStrong was the only one I had good experiences doing business with. :pout:

Well General Spring will not reply to any of my emails about the issue. I advise everyone DO NOT BUY FROM THEM! If you look at their google reviews people have the same experience as me where if you have an issue they just refuse to reply, it is very strange and horrible customer service.

The way they write their return policy totally screws you too. You can return it but they will not refund you for the original shipping costs or the return shipping costs which basically eclipse the cost of the springs themselves along with a 10% restock fee. You basically will not get any money back.

For the sake of followup I wanted to let everyone know General Spring refused to reply to any of my communications after this. I needed up filing a charge back with my credit card and they never even bothered to answer/dispute it. To me this goes to show that they pedal crap and know it. Most of the time people can't be bothered enough to do anything about it which is probably how they make their money. I ended up getting all my money back and unfortunately recycled brand new leaf springs. Just wanted to give a heads up to other potential buyers.

    Thanks for the follow up.

Not that I was ever going to purchase from General Springs but this thread/post will also prevent me from recommending them.

In addition to referencing this experience any time someone asks about General Springs on TW.

Glad you got your money back through your credit card.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I can only say all my buying from General Springs was Pre - Covid . Poor Customer Service seems the normal most every place.

Then I had great Customer Service but I always used the phone because my internet is down more then it works.

I bought at least 5 or 6 sets of Heavy Duty Springs got a better price delivered to the shop then I could get local for the same Dayton Springs.

This thread is timely as I was considering ordering some stock height leaf springs from General Spring...not now. @FinsFan909 - please post your impressions once received.

Did you end up getting an add-a-leaf after all?

"You get what you pay for" could not be more true in this case. Without going into all the details, I ended up with a set of Huskey springs (same part number as the GS) cause they were cheaper. They served their purpose, installing new springs helped me solve an issue. But they were not great. Harsh ride. Swapped them out for a set of Deavers. And I say that full well knowing the price difference between Deaver and GS/Husky/Dorman/Dayton/Etc... which is why I started this post the way I did.

Will do. Just tracked the package and it’s delayed somewhere in Kansas due to weather. Might take a minute to finally install.

My situation is more supply issue. I’d rather pay once, cry once lol. I have a 96 which if I remember correctly 3” shorter leaf springs than yours. I checked deavers before and they had leaf springs for my year about 2 years back but it said “not for towing or heavy loads”. I checked deavers a few weeks back and they weren’t offered anymore. I currently have a shell on my truck so the weight must’ve finally cracked the 27 year old springs. I’m not looking for a lift because I had already freshened up the front with the 880 coils to stay around stock height since I daily it.

It's hard to get stock height stuff- No doubt about that. Any spring manufacturer will able to build you a pack. Call Deaver, or your spring supplier of choice, and tell them what year you have and what you're doing and they'll get you a set of leaf packs.
