Second geners were whiney little bitches... No, wait, I got that backwards.

I worked in upholstery many moons ago, and while it is possibly the final solution to your seat woes, you need to figure out where the seat is hitting you wrong. Get a cheap chair pad at Walmart and experiment with where you want to add padding or remove padding. Cut up the chair pad a tape it in various places till you start to develop a concept of what you want done with the seat.

Or just wear it in with your ass till it fits better.

Search for @AdventureBox, he had an upholstery shop add foam to the bottom side of the bottom cushion. It was about $80.00 and he says it made the seat way more comfy.

Buy a $400 chore truck and drive it around for a week straight. Then switch back to the Tacoma.
When I lived in Utah I drove a '70 C20 that I paid $200 for 130+ miles a day back and forth to work. The seat was completely shot with broken springs. After that experience anything is an improvement.

Chow mixes are great, I've had 3 growing up my entire life. Amazing Dogs!
Now I've got a Shepard and a dachshund. Great dogs too.

Pure bred chows are mean, stubborn dogs. Something great seems to happen when the mixed breeds though. The two we've had have been the sweetest, most laid back dogs ever. Kind of low profile alpha. Not the least bit dickish like our current shepherds. The old shepherd in that picture was the most amazing K9 friend I've ever had. I'm became a shepherd fan because of him, not knowing how neurotic they really are. He was one of a kind. Love them though and don't think I'll ever not have one.

suspension upgrades help a bit. Beyond that, buy a set of clazzios. They come with memory foam padding inside and also adding leather over the seat will pad it extra too

Me too. I sit a bit closer with my legs to get both hands on the wheel. Went back and forth between sitting more upright and close to laid back and far away. Eventually settled where I am. I was a bit disappointed in the seats to start off, but have found "my spot." Now I get in and can tell instantly if someone was messing with my seat.

I'm 6'9 and only have a problem with my seats in long distance scenarios. I do have the xsp-x package though so the seats might be more contoured than the normal ones

Thanks for your expert opinion based on a couple of low resolution camera phone photos. Our veterinarians and his physiotherapist, who were all trained at one of the most reputable vet medical universities in Canada would disagree with you. They thought his weight was healthy, but could have been 5 pounds more. He was very long, narrow, a tall 39 inches at the shoulder, and deep chested. The most spectacular specimen of his breed (I'm highly biased) that I have ever seen. It was difficult to get weight on him though given how high metabolic he was up until his last 6 months. From then on, it was about maintaining so that his hips weren't over stressed. So again, as much as I appreciate the wisdom of an internet expert on the welfare of my pets, your concern is unwarranted and unwelcome.

I do agree with you that the back seat of a Tacoma is no place for two full grown shepherds to spend any lengthy amount of time.

Its not that we don't understand that trucks ride differently than suvs, we just understand that just because it came that way doesn't mean that its the best it can be for our specific needs. We understand there are many ways to improve the ride of the tacoma to come closer to an SUV, while still being able to carry significantly more stuff in the bed or in a trailer without sagging the crap out of the suspension. Or to be able to crawl over rocks, or just to make the truck taller, shorter, or whatever else suits YOUR personal needs. Thats just it, if you want your truck to ride like a truck then by all means have at it! For some others if they want to mod their trucks to the moon in the pursuit of a better ride, comfort, cornering grip, offroad flex, etc etc etc then how does it affect you?

The worst that can come of that is that YOU get more information about what works and does not work, without any of the cost associated with doing that research. Thats what this forum is here for, to expand knowledge by using everyone's collective experience instead of only operating on your own experiences. That way, we can all have more information about what works.

I don't understand a forum where people will spend $10k on bumpers, sliders and a lift to drive slowly down a dirt road in single file but swapping a seat seems like rocket science. Find a seat you like that can support the airbag sensors and swap it in. You can buy aftermarket from the likes of Recaro or go to the junkyard and get the sweetest luxo or sports seats ever installed in any OEM application for pennies on the dollar. BMW, Audi and Volvo have some of the nicest leather buckets in case you wanted a hint at where to start.

Again, you're drawing a conclusion based on a photo of a very large framed dog hunched over in a very small truck. I'll go with professional medical opinion that said my 89 pound shepherd was towards the lower end of what they considered a healthy weight. Not over weight. Not under weight. Your concerns, though heart warming, are unfounded. The internet giving you a forum to express yourself doesn't make you an expert on the subject matter. I pay the EXPERTS for their expert assessment. Their brutally honest one, and not the one I want to hear as the health and welfare of my friends is more important than my feelings. All of them disagree with your opinion.

Welcome to TW cuda6pak....Don't let all the sarcastic comments get you down.

Seems if some people don't have the issue you are having, well then it shouldn't be an issue for you either. That includes everything from transmissions to brake chatter.

The driving position is uncomfortable at first but you will probably get used to it somewhat. It will never be super comfy to me either. I'd like to find a solution along with several other members. Many are looking into ways to lower or raise the front brackets.

My seat is comfortable to me, just took a trip back in late September and drove almost 1700 miles and had zero problems with any discomfort from seat. I am only 5'7" and i noticed when first test driving the tacomas that it fit me really well ... i also remember making the comment " i don't think this would be too comfortable for a tall person "

Right. I came from a car with sport seats; 8 way power, nappa leather/suede and great side bolsters. Anyone who's ever owned a vehicle with really nice seats know that these are not that great of seats. But there are options, like other said, you could look into minor adjustments like additional cushions, or having a shop do some custom work for you. Pricier options might be to do have custom rails put in and put in a cushier seat in or even a sports seat like Recaro, Corbeau or Sparco but definitely worth it.

I've wondered if there was a way to fit 4Runner seats in ... Those seats are more comfy to me and have lots of adjustability.

I wasn't as comfortable at first either, after 17yrs in a Z71 LT with 6way power seats. After cranking up the lumbar support, and getting used to it, I'm now very happy with it. A very different sitting position though, more laid back, verses upright. Just took a 2000+ mile trip and had no issues.
