I just bought a brand new 2022 Tacoma TRD Off-Road. I hitched up my trailer, plugged it into the 7-pin connector, and none of the lights came on, on the trailer. I don't think the trailer is getting any power. So I hooked the same trailer up to my old truck, and all of the lights work on the trailer.
Am I missing something? Is there something I need to connect or "turn on" to get power to the 7-pin connector? The truck is brand new, unmodified, straight from the factory condition.
    Thanks.

Your TRD is wired for towing but it does not have the brake controller. Check out this thread if you want to see my setup.

Edit: in the thread I linked above, check out the Tacoma TRD Towing Harness connector. Yours will be behind the driver's kickplate and it will be sitting there just dangling. That is why you are not getting power to your 7 pin... you need to connect a controller up to that harness.

OK, that’s what I was hoping. I have my brake controller ordered should receive it tomorrow. I was hoping that was why there was no power. I’ll hook it up tomorrow and see if that solves the issue. Thanks.

    What?

Since when did Toyota start requiring a trailer brake controller for LIGHTS to work?

    It doesn't.

    Something's fucky.

Break out the multimeter and check for power.

Or better yet, take it back to the dealer and take advantage of that warranty.

I’m an idiot. Simple fix. Turn the headlights on.
There’s power, I just assumed there wasn’t because the lights weren’t on when I hooked it up in the sunny afternoon.
    ‍♂️
Never mind. Move along, nothing to see here lol.

Solid call out. @adamsapplewny apologies for the misinformation - I should have re-read you question to understand the issue. I should have known the lights are on a different circuit.
