Hello, I have a brand new tacoma tss off-road. The Toyota dealer is 90 mins away and delivered the truck to me. From the day it was delivered, the back passenger side nitto grappler tire has not held air. I have to fill it up every morning if I want to go anywhere.

nitto is telling me I have to take it to the dealer for an inspection (3 hr round trip on faulty tires). Is this the best/only option? Anyone else had this and push back on them at all? There is a discount tire across the street from me so a 3 hr drive on bad tires sounds like a garbage idea.

Put the spare on it and take it to the dealer?

The dealership might be able to replace/repair the tire under warranty since its so new. Discount tire doesn't charge much for small repairs so that's also a good option.

yeah, I could definitely do that. I was asking if this is the only option. A 3 hour drive seems ridiculous when discount tire is 3 mins.

For your time and gas it may make sense just to have the discount tire resolve the issue.. it's most likely something simple.

Hopefully it didn't pick up a nail already.

right, that’s what I was thinking. It’s not exactly the easiest thing to take a half day off of work to drive to the dealer. Also, even with fully inflated tires, the gas mileage on this thing is garbage.
I’m just going to insist with nitto that they cover a repair at discount and see what they say. Worst they say is no and I just pay for it. Can’t be too much money.

if it picked up a nail, it must have been on their lot or when they were delivering it because this started the next day. Lol
My first ever brand new truck. Also, the dashboard screen is going out as well. Fun

I'm going to assume they didn't do any type of pre-delivery inspection

Start looking up lemon laws. Insist that the dealership pick it up and fix it on their dime. This should not be happening on a brand new vehicle.

Am I just going to have to suck it up and drive 3 hours for these types of defects? I mean this is going to cost me fairly significantly in terms of missed work.

I mean, if you have to drive it, then you have to drive it. It would cost a lot to tow it to the dealership. If you can drive it, then do it, right away. If driving it causes even more damage; well, that's the risk you'll have take. But it will be covered by warranty.

    Good luck to ya'.

Like I said, LEMON LAWS. The dealership should pay for pickup and also give you a loaner until the problems are fixed at no cost to you. They gave you a brand new vehicle that is defective, it's their responsibility to fix it.

For lemon laws to be relevant, I believe the dealer has to fail to fix the issue 3 times, so that's not relevant now. With that being said, I'd call the dealer and ask them to tow it in for that screen issue.

Is that the closest dealer to you? You don’t have to take it the dealer you bought it from.

    You are correct sir!

But make sure you document EVERYTHING. When you brought it in, the mileage, who you spoke to, the dealership name.

Is the center screen always like that? I have a 2018 and I've had that same sort of scrambled image appear once or twice long ago and haven't seen it in the last year. <shrug> Talking about lemon laws is jumping the gun imo for these minor issues and a truck that hasn't returned to the dealer.

Why is everyone talking about lemon laws?

a flat tire can happen anytime, that’s not even lemon law worthy.
The dash is in fact an issue but a fairly documented one here. I would recommend calling the dealer to let them know that you need a new dash and send pics to your service rep so that you don’t have to drive back and forth.
Also is there no other toyota dealer? I have 10 within 30 min drive and probably 30 within 3 hrs here …

Does your screen do this often? Mine did that once. Turned off the truck, waited a few seconds, then started it back up. No issues since and that was over a month ago.
