Brand new trd pro with rust and swirles in paint.

What’s crazy is that truck has never been off-road and has zero miles on it. Obviously the truck has sat outside this winter but still unbelievable that it is already doing that. I love pro Tacoma’s. That’s why I was looking at it. I love all Tacoma’s. That’s all I will drive. But Toyota has a quality problem here they need to fix. It’s sad they want this much money and won’t fix these issues.

 

I notice the MSRP sticker isn't on the window and is on the dashboard. I would agree w/ previous post, probably was a demo. I can't believe that rust tho, why does it rust so easily?

 

I love the pro. Hate the price tag for it.

Agreed...I noticed after 3 years the prep guy cut the carpet when he removed the plastic during the PDI. I have been doing the same.

 

It's not a 50k truck. It's a 25k truck with parts added onto it to equal a 50k truck.

 

What's the actual unit cost 18K?

 

Whether it's a pro or sr5, their build quality is the same, just different bolt on parts. Paint is the same, spend 25k or 50k and your product is the same. Mass production will never have perfect results. As for the rust, it's a metal truck. It's nothing new.

 

I like the Pro. I just think it's over priced like all Tacomas.

 

Buy it, then point it out to your dealer and demand they give you a brand new one.

 

Once again, Toyota will say this is normal.

Lol. That rust isn’t an issue. It’s bare steel on a machined face on a cast component left raw.

I’d hate to see how some of you select your fruits and vegetables in the produce section.

 

Unless your buying a Ferrari or Porsche almost every new car has paint imperfections from the factory, even a Tacoma (it’s a freaking mid size budget truck ladies and gents). As far as the rust it’s an untreated exposed surface susceptible to the elements like anything else.

 

Right?! Amazes me how many people don’t get this. One of these new truck rust posts pops up it seems every week. The best are the “it’s rusting under the paint!!!” rail dust posts.

 

That’s nothing...go stick your head under a 100k dodge demon or any 70k hellcat if you wanna see rust.

 

I bought a new trd pro, showroom truck, it had rust underneath the brake pedal. I was really astonished. The truck was manufactured May 2018 and I bought it June 1st 2018. The dealership fixed it for me for free after I complained. Apparently a lot of the Tacoma parts aren’t clear coated.

 

It’s almost enjoyable. Same with the pro owners all like “why don’t you guys like the pro?!?! I bought one and nobody cares HOW can you not care?”
It’s simple. A Tacoma is a Tacoma is a Tacoma. You have a nice Tacoma. That is all.

 

But I paid MSRP for my pro cause it will have higher resale. It’ll be a collector item someday!!!
