I could fix those swirls in less than 5 mins. that is actually not bad at all. if that truck has been "detailed" by their lot lizards then it was never detailed. they half ass wash it and dry it and slap some tire dressing on the tires and call it good. the days of having actual detailers in a dealership are few and far between. I used to detail for a Toyota dealer, the one I bought my Taco from in fact. mine had rail dust and overspray all over it. I gave them once chance to fix it. they took my truck to a professional detailer, not the wash guys in the dealership. it came back perfect. I could have done it myself, but they insisted that they fix it. plus I have the Toyoguard protection on the paint.

as for the rust, that is nothing new on ANY new vehicle. any bare metal part that gets any water on it will look exactly like that. I wouldn't let either of those things deter you from buying that truck

oh, I do like the Pro trucks, a lot actually. my next one may very well be a Pro...I have a thing for a dark green vehicle...

Well put. And agreed, no pro hate, just some of the things I've seen from pro owners here that makes me shake my head lol. We all have a weird love for Tacomas. Same dysfunctional family.

I'm guessing Porsche is probably pretty good about their paint, but Ferrari and other niche manufacturers send out TERRIBLE paint regularly.

I know this not from personal experience, but from reading a detailing blog about paint correction on brand new cars.

Good to know, ya I have no experience or knowledge, was just using it as a reference point / example. I've detailed and seen new Ford, Chevy, Toyota, Jeep, etc. vehicles, all of them have paint / clear in need of correction from the factory.

Exactly, i have a Pro T4R and over at the 4runners .com forum the hate of pros is ridiculous. Hell even one of the moderators over there joins in on the hate fest. Yet the amount of folks slapping pro grills and wheels on is amazing! Lol. Jealous I guess

Agree there's alot of unnecessary / warranted hate, but there is also alot of Pro snobbery too.

It's that ugly ass snorkels fault.

The paint is trying to hide in shame, and the bare metal is covering itself in rust to not be seen.

Thats because there's nothing to fix, there's literally no "issues" to fix on that truck.

Paint gets swirl marks thats what wax is for.

Metal gets surface rust and no manufacturer in existence fluid films every little piece of metal at the factory.

I used to sell BMWs and its crazy that people buying $150k Alpina's were less bitchy than "but its $50k!" Toyota buyers about imperfections. And when people complain about the price thats the really hilarious part, MSRP on a TRD pro is like $43-$44k thats a straight up fucking BARGAIN relative to what 1st gen Tacoma's cost, and back then no one bitched about how expensive Tacoma's were.... its like no one here knows how inflation works.

I get it real wages have been stagnate for decades so complain about that, not that products are nominally more expensive but in REAL terms are actually better priced than ever. Seriously, you get a lot more for your $ today on ANY vehicle than you did 10, 20, 30 years ago etc...

If you thought $23k for a 4x4 tacoma back in 1996 was reasonable then you should be fucking ECSTATIC that a brand new 2019 TRD Offroad is ONLY $37k, like you should be on your knees thanking Toyota for being so generous :anonymous:

Unpopular opinion here I know, but it has the advantage of being the truth :D

Agreed on the inflation part, tried to explain that in a previous thread it got messy.

And why would they. What manufacturer would spray fucking disgusting goat sweat to their finished product. I won’t work on fluid film-fucked undersides.

    Use mavcoat instead.

I'll try to make it clear and easy for everyone. My dad had a 1996 Tacoma back in the day, I didn't just bullshit the $23k # that was literally the MSRP for his 1996 SR5 V6 4x4 extra cab. And $37k today gets you a 2019 TRD Offroad with a tech pkg (MSRP)

$23k in 1996 is equivalent to $37k in today's dollars. In REAL prices (economic term for relative to inflation) these trucks cost the SAME.

But why am I saying that its such a bargain at $37k if thats the "same" price as $23k back in 1996??

Because although the PRICES are the same (in real terms), the equipment is not.

2019 has: 3 times as many airbags, a navigation unit that talks to shit in SPACE, locking rear diff, dozens of onboard computers, a fucking RADAR unit, multiple cameras, touch screens, complex fuel injection system, not to mention little shit like a power sliding real window, more performance, more advanced audio system, stability control, crawl control, smartkey system, xm radio. Etc etc etc.

Think of every little thing that a 2019 model has that a 1996 model did NOT and then realize in real terms you got ALL of that for FREE.

You already know this, but maybe some of these other guys will "get it".

your little profile quote on globalism is fucking epic btw. My economics teacher had something really similar to explain how connected everything is these days, and to embrace it! Like you seem to be doing :)

Yeah don't get me wrong thats a serious problem and of course there's no one answer on how to solve that. Increase in minimum wage? UBI? Go back to the gold standard?? There's some good arguments for all of those ideas but also some great points against each one. I sure as hell don't have the answers but identifying the real problem (wages instead of prices) is probably a good start.

Im very fortunate that my wages have more than kept up with inflation. Education is the key imo.

I suggest we eat the rich. Besides that, I wont go into politics or the reasons that alot of it is how it is. Leave that for anothe thread.

Dem TRD Pros are pricey eh? How dare the paint be succeptible to a abrasives particles in the air. :D
