Got into my brand new truck with 700 miles on it this AM to drive over and get my new wheels installed and the transmission made a big clunk and the check engine light went on. Hopefully the nearby dealer can sort this out quickly. Wouldn't you know it happens the day before we are to hit the road for vacation!

Any ideas out there? What the Heck!

update: used OBD scanner and it shows P0328 knock sensor

how does that make the transmission feel whacked?

What makes you think it was the transmission?

I hate to say it, but if recent events are any indication you are going to be called out as a troll within a few posts. Seems to be the current "mood" on TW regarding complaint threads and new or new"ish" members.

FWIW, good luck at the dealer and I hope it's a quick fix

Dealer says rodent damage to wiring harness. $1200 repair

Any suggestions as to how to keep rodents out of the engine? It was parked in a carport for 3 days and this happened. Need to find a preventative measure

Good luck with that. Had that problem with a car I only drove once in a while. Before everyone comes on here with ideas that don't work I will save you some time with the myths. Dryer sheets... they would actually shit on these so that wasn't keeping them away. Peppermint oil... I tried this on cotton balls, I would find the cotton balls would disappear as they were using these to make there nest. Mouse traps under the car, would catch a few but still getting into the car. The only thing I found to work were moth balls in knee high socks placed on top of each tire. The mice use the tires to gain access to the inside of your car.

Buy some good cat food. Put it fairly close to your truck. Cats come for the food, catch the mice and you are good to go.

This works. My parents use them in their camper during the winter. They are poisonous so I am not sure if it is a good idea to have them inside and breathing the fumes though. Edit : Mothballs

Yes I get that. The vapor is still a toxic pesticide you are breathing but I only meant to say maybe not to put them in the car. I assume one spends more time closed in the car breathing then somebody spends closed in their closet.

Very suspicious. $1200 for a "mouse damaged harness" and you paid it no questions asked?

It cost 1500 for mice chewing up a harness in my S4. Once mice get it there it doesn't take long.
I just had to pay the deductible on my insurance.

My neighbor had the same issue on his older Tundra. At least a grand.

Really sucks. He put some big assed traps under his vehicles, and has been OK for maybe a year now. We live in the woods.
