    yes the squeaky clutch!
My 95 did it from day 1 until I sold it 180k later no matter what fix was done. Probably still squeaking today! :D

To add to 'bows post, one thing he forgot to mention...............this truck was on the front showroom floor:eek:

amazing that they would not give this vehicle a thorough examination before placing it in the front showroom........

It was an '08 also. Salesman said they had 4 rugged trails and were down to the last one........

All I have to say is this.

Who cares if it has a few rattles or squeaks, ITS A TRUCK not a Lexus. If you dont want the squeaks or rattles then get a luxury car. Im not trying to be mean about this, but seriously guys come on. I have an 06 and I really could care less about the squeaks and the ticky blower. Im just glad I've got what I've got.

Sure that the 1st. Gen Tacomas are a tiny bit better than our 2nd Gen. And what would you care about more..... a Very successful Manufacturer that makes good products alone or have a Manufacturer that is making cars off the Governments (our) money?

I have 98, and 2009 Taco's. I just got rid of a 2007 Camry V6. The Camry is a great car, however; their quality sucked in 2007. It was the worst new car experience I have ever had. Yet, I still purchased another Toyota. My 2009 rides like a truck! It has some squeaks, rattles, and strange vibes...but hey..it's a truck. My 98 Tacoma 2x4 2.4l auto mini has been the best vehicle purchase in my 25 + years of car ownership. The interior quality fit and finish in my 09 Taco is by far better than the Camry. If my 09 is half as good as the 98, I will be happy.

Toyota needs to focus on quality more than numbers.

I will say the new V6 Camry's are pretty fun to drive, in their class, they are a good value, and are quick.

on that note, you reminded me...............I believe you will see better quality for 2009 and up vehicles.

I worked for a Toyota group company for 18 years.

My buddies that still work there (Aisin USA mfg. Inc.), who make parts for Toyota, mainly the Camrys/corollas, have told me that Toyota has made big changes.

Tact times to roll a car off the line used to be around 40 seconds. Since the economy took a dump, they have slowed tact times to around 2 minutes. They have all their extra people checking quality many times over. My buddies at Aisin have said they have had many quality issue calls from Toyota saying to fix quality issues that have been ok in the past.

This downturn has slowed production, and I know in Georgetown Ky, where they assemble the Camry, quality will have to improve. This all stems from the fact that Toyota tries to keep a reputation of not laying off workers.

Slowing down tact times, and adding extra people checking for better quality will surely improve quality.

I have a 2006 dc trd sport and the only issue I have had in 3 years of ownership was a clip in the dash that broke within the first month of owning it, it was fixed under warranty and I have not had any big issues since other than an occasional rattle from the driver's mirror.

My last truck was a Ranger and on that sweaks and rattles were the least of my concerns. Every panel on the interior rattled, both power windows leaked, two speedometers broke, and the driver's window would get stuck if it was wound all the way down.
And these were the problems it had being only 4 years old

Wow...guess they are hopin' no one will notice

As far as rattles and squeaks, if I heard that kazoo windshield noise on mine, I'd be upset. Truck or not, that would drive me friggin :goingcrazy:
Luckily mine doesn't, but I've heard the youtube. Even for a truck that's a no go.

I think a lot of the Tacoma's have engineering problems. Auto trannies sound very suspect with the lunging problem. The gearing on the manuals is poor at best. The ratios need to be changed in most cases. The "distance between first and second is to far on the 5spd tranny. And 1st is to steep on the 4cyl 5sp tranny. Truck is overal noisy and not smooth feeling. I won't know if this truck is better than a Ford or Chevy till it hits 100K. Then I'll give you the real scoop. 08 4cyl Access Cab 4x4.

My dealer just ordered me a new stereo, it never worked properly from day 1 but i was too busy to get it checked out. Also, all the wiring under the hood looks a little sloppy and there is a bunch of electrical tape dangling.

Wow, this is weird. Haven't been on this site in ages, but got notified that a thread I subscribed to had a reply.

If you read my post above (#20) I did indeed sell my one-year old Tacoma. Ended up getting a fair price, sold it to an individual, not a dealer. Bought (are you ready?).

2004 F-150 for 9K and I love it, which is all that counts. 46K on it and for the short money I paid if it lasts me a couple of years I'll be happy. I wasn't very happy with my 26K Tacoma, but I know a lot of guys are.

Hope everyone is enjoying what ever they are driving, and when Toyota gets it together with a Tacoma redesign, I'll check them out again.

Got 200 miles on my 2010 and love it. There are problems with all vehicles but I'm hoping that mine will turn out OK.

New vehicles should not rattle. I don't know why some people accept and make excuses for the bad quality of their new vehicles. Blind brand loyalty?
BTW, I did not mention any particular brand of vehicle.
