I have hauled plenty of motor fuels myself . Just to add to what has already been said . Say tank for 89 , 91 or 93 oct . wont hold what has been ordered ? All grades can or could go into the 87 oct. tanks . But not the other way around . Seen it , done it . Buy gas where they go threw the most is about all you can honestly do .

    YMMV .

I work at one of the largest oil refineries in the world. The only one in the US whose marketing terminal is inside the refinery. Most of the Eastern seaboard gets its gas from us. It's all the same, except for the additives. Any refinery has recipes for every brand. It's all about geographic location to market.

    That's completely pointless.

It all comes from the same place.

I haul gasoline and other fuels for a living.

If cameras were allowed I would take a picture of the rack where all the trucks are loading. Sometimes there are a dozen or more different companies all pulling product off the same rack.

Out of curiosity, what about the "ethanol free" guys? Where would they source their gas?

No idea. The only place around me that has ethanol free is airports.

From what I have seen as long as you get top tier gas you should be good to go. AAA did a test where they concluded that non top tier gas left up to 19 times more engine build up up than top tier gas. I have tracked mileage in some of my more finicky cars (turbo German cars) over the years and saw a noticeable difference between some brands. Our Yukon hates some of the non top tier gas my wife puts in it but she gets whatever is the closest and I guess I should just be glad she occasionally gasses it up. It is a rare occurrence. :)
