    Yup.

    Just drill out the pin.

So what are you planning? Long barrel pistol build?

CQB, I just want a shorter barrel to have for that kind of application. I havent done a ton of research on it though. I just like the idea of a super short cqb gun. I was thinking of just having it to swap out and put on my LMT lower if thats even possible. Which I think it is.

You can't put a barrel shorter than 16" on a rifle lower without an NFA stamp.
You can't even be in possession of a barrel shorter than 16" unless you also possess a lower receiver that can be legally assembled into a pistol.

If you want a CQB 5.56, just build up a pistol lower and 12" upper.

Well shit, didnt know all that.

Just out of curiosity, would it work though? If all these laws were not there. Could you take that upper and just swap out my LMT upper and put on the LMT lower?

Any 5.56 upper and lower would be compatible.
The 7.62 (AR10) pattern, there's two different styles, but with 5.56/.223, that's not an issue.

But you don't want to mess around with NFA issues without knowing your way around and through the law.

I wanted a 14.5" barrel for my gun, so I actually bought and machined a "pistol" lower from an 80% forging.
I did that so I could legally take possession of the barrel. Once I got all of my parts together, I assembled the upper and took it to a gunsmith to have the flash hider welded on. At that point, BATFE considers it to be a 16.5" barrel.
