So after I get my truck all nice and clean. Someone goes ahead and tries to break in to my truck last night. I can tell because they tried to pry my door handle open and leaves pitting marks on my door . I cant do anything about it cause i have no idea who it is. Can someone direct me to how i can fill these and smooth it out. Ive only had the truck since June when i bought it brand new. A car has already scratched my bumper without so much as a "sorry i hit your car" note and now this. I'm about ready to booby trap the truck when its parked or camp out with my .45 but i think there are laws against both :laser:.IMG_1865.jpg

    Damn that sucks.

It won't be perfect, but you can dab it with some touch up paint sold at the dealer or online. Your truck looks like 040 Super White which is single stage and should be easier to touch up. You can knock it down to a smoother finish with some wet sanding.

I noticed similar marks on my truck in the passenger door, except they looked like they tried to shimmy the door open. Not the handle

I'm sorry that happened to you, man! That really sucks!
I believe Advance Auto would have the paint as well- in the little Duplicolor pens. Would be perfect for this application, I would think.

Yes, if you have a deductible.

I have a zero deductible on my comprehensive coverage and 250 on my collision coverage.

I had the same thing happen to my wife's car years ago. Didn't cost me anything, but the repairs were up around 800. It was a little more beat up than yours.

If it happened again I would get exterior cameras (for the truck).

That really sucks. I'd probably be crying if it was me.

Just gonna say it. Nobody, not even the dumbest thief, would pry right there to open a vehicle door. And they don't look anything like pry marks from here. They look like a blind drunk made several failed and angry attempts at inserting a key. Did you loan the truck to anyone? Park it where a drunk accidentally tried to get in the wrong truck? Maybe get hammered yourself?

That is what I thought someone jabbing with a key. Some drunk or dope head so out of it they didn't it wasn't the vehicle they had a key to or just gave up and walked or crawled away. A buddy of mine and his wife lived in a place with condos they always had drunks wandering around. one time I was visiting and my buddy was already asleep but I was up watching TV his wife came in from work and she tells me to grab my buddies pistol and go check on this guy in the parking lot. So we drive around and here this dude is drunk as hell trying to get in this car only he cant. So I got out and tried to talk to him with no success so I took his keys and threw them into the bushes.

At least they didn't do this:

Happened across the street from my house. Guy used a long flat head screw driver to get in between the body and glass. He rocked it enough to where the glass shattered mostly inside my truck. He only took my stuff from the glove box and left all my power tools, etc in the back seat. He never opened the door either knowing the alarm would go off.

GOOD NEWS is I wasn't the only victim that night and why that is good is b/c it led to catching the guy a few weeks later.:bananadance: All of my stuff was returned including my manual. The guy is facing 20+ years for multiple felonies regarding theft/identity theft etc etc. He was selling this information online. Thankfully he didn't have enough of my info for it to be sold yet.

Progressive Insurance fought with me on replacing the glass with OEM. I had to make them inspect each piece of glass to prove all of it was OEM with the stamp you can see above. It was a difference of $100 which is nothing to them :ballchain:. I'm getting the body work done next month or so. I've waited simply b/c I need my truck daily for work (Construction Superintendent). Body work is going to take at least a week from the few places I've shown it to.

@OP: That looks like the work of kids.... If somebody was serious about breaking in, they would either smash the window, or happen to have a slim jim in their pocket.

I think you were right. First it wasn't me drunk out of my mind. I did however see some bums hanging around the entrance to my neighborhood next to a communications box. I was coming home and saw them doing god knows what near that box. But I suspect it was them they looked all cracked out so definitely rookie work

That blows....sorry. If it were me, I'd touch it up, and wait for a few more bad things too happen. That way the body shop can correct several issues at the same time.
