My point, albeit subtly made, was that early changes are already so far ahead of factory spec that 600 miles one way or the other isn't going to make any discernible difference. Go with what works for your schedule.

Why not just follow what is says in the owners manual? Sure 10k miles seems like a long time to wait, but I trust the people that engineered and built the truck more than the opinion of a random person who says they change it earlier for peace of mind. If Toyota says you should change it at 10k miles, change it at 10k miles. It's as simple as that. Why waste the money doing it more frequently for no good reason.

Yeah, the manual says: ≤200 miles- Avoid Sudden Stops. ≤ 500 miles- No towing trailers ≤1000 miles- No driving at high speeds, avoid sudden acceleration, no driving continuously in low gears and do not drive at a constant speed for a long period of time.

The irony is that it says nothing about fluid changes and I am not sure that I can adhere to all of these rules on a trip. I'll do my best though!

I just passed 1k miles on mine and pretty much broke all of these rules. I picked up my truck 1.5 hours from where I live so I immediately drove it on the express way at constant speed. I also took a 400 mile trip on the expressway so so I traveled at high and constant speeds. I don't really buy too much into the break in phase. I think it was more important in the past than it is now. I'm at 1k miles and the truck drives like a dream. I have been loving it.
