I did too...I am also very pleased that my rear diff doesn't howl. But I am waiting for my cps to fail.

So basicly with this guys theory, you break it in on the test drive. Hope your the first, or there is a mechanic that takes it out. I did get mine out on the highway in the first 10, pushed it a little, but would have done it a little longer.

I find myself disagreeing with or challenging many things he says. To the average person he sounds like he knows what he is saying. A lot of what he says is based on some fact, however, I think he also overlooks other data that is equally relevant. He talks a lot about pressure in this video, but very little on metallurgy. The engine makes thousands and thousands of revolutions per each drive, it breaks in pretty fast.

I prefer cycling loads and running pretty hard. I have not had any of my equipment fail as a result of my proffered break-in technique. I am an engineer by degree too, but that doesn't qualify me to be the authority on anything... I have learned more in the field with real people than in 4 years of rigorous study in college.

this fuckin guy again. I watched his 'things not to do in an automatic transmission' and it was mostly bullshit. He didn't even mention that it locks up

My only concern is the fact that I drive 120 miles+ a day on the highway...so obviously my first 1000 miles were mostly highway with cruise control on. No harsh braking or fast acceleration for me. I'm curious if I should be that concerned? Maybe I'll ask the dealership when I go in for my first service.

Best to vary rpms during the break in period, but I’m sure you will be fine, it’s a Toyota.

Imagine if hard break-in was the way to go. Auto manufacturers would never be allowed to write that into a manual. Telling an average customer to redline the car around for the first little while would end up poorly and with many lawsuits due to crashes haha.

Who doesn't go on a long road trip to break in their new car/truck? Its the joy of purchasing a new car/truck!

Engine builders always taught me to break in a new motor with short wide open bursts of throttle while under load similar to how they do it on a dyno. Never had any issues, and always had good running engines whether a bike, boat, snowmobile, car, or truck.

Is the 1,000 mile break-in oil change necessary if you plan to keep it 10 years or more?
