Am I missing it? I don’t see this in the Owner’s Manual. Didn’t find it in a search. Hopefully taking delivery of my 2020 this week.

Give it the beans Gus! It's somewhere in the manual. No towing, vary rpm no high revs, something to that effect.

Drive it, don't tow anything for a bit. Pretty much it.

I like to find a good slightly uphill stretch where I can put a load on the engine in the power range without revving quickly or too high... I have an onramp that is uphill that let's me get a good pull in 3rd/4th that isn't jackrabbit-y like 1st or 2nd. Seat those rings!

In my airplane with a newly overhauled $30K engine with new cylinders, you fill it with mineral oil and then the first flight is full throttle until the temps drop showing the rings seated. Takes anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours per the manufacturer. But in a vehicle it’s drive slow (Under 50) and vary speeds for 500 miles (per my other new vehicles). I’m assuming Toyota is the same but can’t find it anywhere.

No just wondering why you run the heck out of a $35K engine to break it in and baby a $5K engine.

Never had a new vehicle before I got mine almost 2 months ago. I am at 1600 miles, I've done all that just in my normal driving. Still haven't towed yet.

I would guess say faster than needed to pass someone on the highway doing 70mph. 70 is about as fast as the speed limit is here on the east coast.

I’ve had a vehicle before that said 50mph was max for 500 miles. I had a 20 mile commute one way so I’m driving in the right lane getting passed bad. Lol Lasted 2-3 weeks.

Don't blame Toyota because everyone else found it no problem. I am glad someone actually looks at the manual tho.

Comparative to auto engines, big air-cooled aero engines, where an OH is pretty close to blueprinting, are a completely different monster to mass produced watercooled engines that essentially have FADEC.

Also, most of the break in is about the driveline components (less precision machining and post machining processing) and getting the rando-joe used to the vehicle (type rated). Look at how many new vehicles are wrote off in the first couple miles, esp those that are not the typical Corolla / Camry. Not all that different than giving a newb the controls to your PA28 and telling them to bring it in on a calm day. :D
