Hey folks.. just purchased my first Tacoma, a 2014 off road...

I used to drive an 02 Honda and out of habit would keep my foot on the break when starting it.

that being said, I’ve been doing the same with the Tacoma and noticed after leaving it for a bit... the break will seem to push my foot back when starting up...

Sometimes it doesn’t seem to push it back if I turn the truck on/off again...

should I keep my foot on the break when starting the truck or break the habit and leave it off?

    Welcome!

I’ve never felt any need to keep a foot on the brake pedal when starting the truck. Did your Honda have any type of parking brake issues that enabled that habit?

Thank you! Looking forward to posting pictures..

mans negative on the honda... it was an 02’ CRV and I guess I’ve just figured to keep it on.. not a push to start or anything..

This is normal for the electronic brake booster, it is the pump building pressure.

    This.

    OP, it’s brake, not break.

I always step on the brake when starting and immediately feel the difference when starting.

No real difference if you start with you foot in or off the brake, doesn’t matter at all.

My fault... got a bottle of Woodys from a friend as a gift so I had to break into that.. before posting about my brakes. I’ll make sure to not include any inebriated typos in future posts :)!

    many thanks for the help!
