I took my 2017 Tacoma in for this to be fixed in May 2022 and just noticed the other day the headliner in the back was stained again. So I'm going to have to call them because it's still leaking. Anybody had theirs keep leaking after the fix?

Is it wet or just stained? Sometimes stain will resurface. Mines dry as can be, but I did the repair myself.

Has anyone with a topper said f%*# it, and just applied some silicone around the housing? I’m not removing my canopy I spent $300 to get installed, trying to find a place to store it overnight, and then paying to have it reinstalled and wired up.

Mine was stained on my 2017. I had them replace the headliner at that time as well.
I have not had any issues with the brake light, but have had the headliner replaced when the truck was stolen and there were a few burn holes from cigarettes. But, I do live in socal that doesn't see rain whatsoever and I don't wash my truck:anonymous:

AZ doesn't get much rain either. I try and wash/detail mine every other week (actually washed it today) unless it 110 outside during the summer. That's what I refer to as Pig Pen Season. :mudding:I wouldn't want it back if it were stolen. :notsure:

Same. No leaks that I can see but just thinking of going the black silicone route.

Some Permatex silicone or 3M Marine silicone sealant should take care of it. The trim ring doesn't really do much except cover the silicone from UV damage and provide a cleaner finished look.

Didn't have much of a choice according to insurance. :ballchain:
I have pretty much said, " fuck it" at this point. I live in LA and have wheeled the shit our of this 2wd and it's a work truck. As someone once told me, "anything downhill, you're good.... up hill is a different story "
I have done and tried both, have scratches and dents, squeaks, creaks and groans on/from the truck daily.
It still hasn't let me down:fingerscrossed:..... but I had more faith in my 2007. Which was strictly a work truck for 10 years before it was stolen from my driveway.

Looks like I can get the gasket per above post. Dealer insists the cap come off; not going to happen.

Thanks to this thread I finally found the source leak on my 2016. I had been dealing with the leak for 4 weeks of frequent heavy rain in Houston. It was driving me mad. I pulled off my OEM roof rack off to silicone all the screw holes up before remounting. That didn't work. I was beginning to hate this truck.

My dealership was pretty responsive. Took my truck in same day and had it back to me in 3 business days. They pulled everything out of the interior and replaced anything showing signs of mildew which in my case was the headliner and carpet.

how did you get the trim piece? I went to my local dealership and they have no idea WTF I’m talking about. They’re trying to sell me the whole light assembly.

They fixed my recall in 2022 with no complaints of any leaks. A couple years later I am now seeing droplets coming from inside driver side rear window. I poured some water on the third brake light and a minute or so later I saw drops inside. Dealership who corrected the recall states the warranty was only valid for 12 months and I would have to fork up $250 just to diagnosis the issue. As anyone else done an easy fix for this?
