I rarely think that calling corporate is necessary, but in this case I would call corporate. It's the first time I've heard of a resealed third brake light leaking.

As the service writer told me when I had mine done, "Toyota is calling it a service campaign, but it's a recall no matter what they say."

The problem isn't just the leak, it's the damage the water causes and the resulting mold.

I redid mine about a month ago. (new oem light and oem gasket)

Long story short, I stayed at a vrbo in NC last August and left food in the truck. A bear chewed on it while trying to tear into the truck and the corner edge's were cracked. I kept putting it off, but finally went ahead and fixed it.

It took a good 4 hours with a plastic scraper and bottle of goo off removing all the old black permatex. The metal was slightly warped, but I was able to pry it back into shape for the most part.
