    Coors brews with corn, right?


    I know nothing about brewing beer. I was just wondering if anyone here home brews using corn?

    If you want to brew coors but why would you want to do that?

    Corn sugar is just an alcohol producer not a flavor producer.

    A really usefull/enjoyable book to start with is The Joy of Homebrewing by Charlie Papazian. I learned a lot and had a lot of fun brewing some of his recipes.

    Probably a lot of corn and also rice. Both of those have high ferment ability with very little taste and color. I will never brew a Coors clone beer.

    Typically flaked maize is used in cream ales. Its pretty simple to brew usually a pils base with maize added. I made a couple batches using either wlp050 cream ale yeast or wlp051. It comes in at 4.5-5%. Heavier mouthfeel then coors and a lot more flavorful.

    New Glarus Spotted Cow (farmhouse ale) uses a touch of corn. If you ever are in Wisconsin, give it a try! I hope to make a clone this summer.
