You know, as far as getting this thread locked, it would probably be better to just go ahead and get it over with.

Anybody that has to work and take care of a family literally doesn't have time to fully understand this situation.

I could be wrong, but I don't see any members that are known "Thread Lockers" viewing this thread now.

Here's what happened. Environmental and economic insecurity is leading to terrible conditions in disadvantaged countries, such as those emerging from historical colonization (think Syria, most of Africa). Those people are immigrating to England. Conservatives in England are playing on people's fear to say that the EU is preventing them from enacting anti-immigration measures and that England is paying a disproportionate amount of EU funding.

What the EU actually does is collective bargaining to benefit member states. England pays a lot of money and is regulated by the EU, but in fact benefits from trade negotiation and political unity. Some may call it freedom, but I call it isolationism. It's like a "group buy" but in global trade.

Politicians are playing games with the world economy and our lives, instead of dealing with the major problems of our times: environmental, social, and economic injustice. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a leftist hippy. I believe in capitalism completely. However, unless we can find a way to address a triple bottom line and sustainability, we aren't going to improve global quality of life, and we will continue to grapple with profound social challenges. And by the way, I dislike Hilary, but Trump is working towards the same damn thing, which is scary.

There you have it. I hope I don't get banned for my OPINION.

Hey guys, sorry for bringing this up. Like I said before, I was just trying to become an informed human since I work all the time and can't really watch the news. Rules are rules and I guess we can't venture down this alley

Ras61 has it very succinctly put. The only thing I disagree with him on is the "improve global quality of life" phrase.

The ultimate goal of some (and end result would be) to LOWER the standard of living for nearly all of the more prosperous members of the EU. It has been proven in this country (and the EU) that you can't eliminate poverty by taking from those who work and giving it to those who don't (or won't).

Human nature is to do what you are rewarded for. Socialism doesn't work because the lazy are too numerous.

Honorable mention. Had this post been as strongly conservative as it is liberal, this thread would be locked. Pretty damn good try though, Ras61. ;)

Will this Brixet at least end the new Top Gear. That's all that anyone could hope for in the end.

    NOW, we're getting somewhere.

POLITICS isn't the problem. Conservative, Republican politics are the unwelcome guest at the party.

Hey, guys. Let me get one thing straight: I believe there are good and bad people on both sides of the field, but you better be damn sure we need civil debate and an honest attempt to understand each other if we want to get anywhere.
