Found this on facebook from a guy named JZ Swap and Wiring shared

I think I can wire both PWR GND connections to E02 since thats all that my ECU has (E02 and E03)

Where'd you guys get your fic from? They seem to range in price a lot. I've seem some on eBay for as low as ~$300 saying they're shipped from Thailand and Malaysia. Know anything about those? Also Brice, where'd you buy that harness from that your wiring into to? Lastly what do you guys think of this compared to the mapecu3? Asking b/c of the potential GB that may happen. Thanks

I got mine from Amazon, er my mom did since it was also a gift.

I got that extension harness from URD. Its on there website under electronics I believe.

And I had looked into the mapecu3 back when I first started this and I'd say you could probably use either one with the same results, the mapecu I believe is a bit newer so you may have more features (I believe it has two step and fast car stuff like that, not sure) and as long as the map ecu tells you what it needs to intercept and see, wiring should be fairly straightforward

I got mine off Amazon for $390. I wouldn't gamble on anything cheaper that might end up being a fic3.5 or something like that. I think the map3 is easier to configure but it has a smaller range of injector sizes that can be used because it only indirectly controls injector pulse width through the MAF while the fic can directly control pulse width. I've read the fic has issues communicating with the crank position sensor but it seems a simple resistor can fix this issue(?).

I honestly don't know a lot about the map3 and only opted for the fic because of price. At the end of the day they both will accomplish the same thing so I say buy the one that's cheaper.

Thanks for the info guys. Looks like they're about the same still on Amazon so definitely a better price than the MAPECU. Brice, how much did the PNP harness end up costing? URD doesn't list a price so I'm guessing it must vary depending on the exact application.

Is there a way that either of these fuel/timing controllers replace the MAF with a MAP sensor completely?

The MAP3 can do both. Maf Intercept or Maf Delete (MAP only I.E. speed density).

    Not sure about the AEM.

You can technically remove it with the fic since it has a maf offset table. I'm not sure how the map removes it but with the fic you would need to set up the entire table manually so that the computer is seeing what you want in MAP via MAF, if that makes sense.

Did some reading on the map3 last night. It looks like it has an EBC which is really nice since most I've seen are in the ball park $200-300. In general it claims to be able to do a lot more stuff but having tinkered with the 5vz ecu personally I doubt it's as capable as it claims, at least with this particular engine.

what is the GB price that you're likely to hit? $450? If it's near that I'd say just go for it for experimentation sake. In the very least you'll have a piggy back that can get you a spot on tune equivalent to the fic and at most you'll have all the extra features.

I thought about trying the MAFT pro piggy back too. It does MAP conversion, EBC, and a lot more. But our motors ECU is such a bitch idk if it would be worth it.

Yeeees, Well no this thing will never get finished lol

    Sorta

It started with the AEM plugged in but ran crazy lean for some reason. I may have messed up some wiring somewhere along the line so I may have to go back. I can use the bypass harness to troubleshoot.
Another thing is that when I installed the AEM fic 6 software, it didn't give me the bas_cal.fi6 file for a base map, and I can't find one anywhere on the internet, so I'm essentially left without any way to make a map...Not sure what to do there.

The PNP ext harness was like 189 dollars? Much more reasonable than the Boomslang one which admittedly comes pre wired but is $550 I believe lol.
That was a type C harness for a 99 V6, You would need a type D harness which is $199 You should be able to scroll to the very bottom of URD's website where the harnesses are and see the pricing :D

There is no base map, it just all zeroes. Running lean worries me. No idea why that would be.

    So holy shit.

Mega squirt does PNP now. They don't have one for tacomas..yet. But can happen..

    http://www.megasquirtpnp.com/mspnp_on_demand.php

That said, looks like they only have ecu plugs for 95-97 tacomas with manuals.

But hot damn. Id go for the program if I could find 9 others with 95-97s who wanted boost and a guy near Georgia for testing....

    Not good odds. Haha

From what I read there should be a "nothing map" wherever AEM installs the software, but there's nothing there and it wont let me make one...

As I recall you can only connect to the fic from your pc once you have a map loaded on the program and you have to make the base map. Don't remember how you make it, I think I had some generic instructions that were shipped with the fic and it was pretty simple.
